I have two dog 'refugees' heading for my house from Cocoa Beach.
It sucks that most shelters do NOT allow pets, and there are so few options for those of us with animals.
Hoping Mathew kicks just a little bit east and does NOT execute the predicted you turn and come back for an encore.
Good job, Windsor! Give all the furry four leggers belly rubs

Agree on the no u-turn policy. We're supposed to be in Hollywood Fl for a week starting the 15th! Hoping for minimal damage and an open I-95!

The game wasn't pretty but it's a win.

I posted an obituary of a little boy on FB. I didn't give any back story. His father shot and killed him and then killed himself. I am friends with the mother's dad, Keith. The family is devastated. Prayers and vibes for them.

I am so sorry, LG. My heart breaks for you and the family. Give me a call if you want to talk.

I saw his sweet picture on FB. I'm sending love and prayers to his family and friends and to you!

I can't remember EVER seeing a sweeter little face. And oh, those eyes and smile. My heart is still in my throat over this one and I don't even know them. Please tell his grandfather that so many of us are hurting right along with him. We hope their pain is quickly eased and that their best memories remain vivid forever.
Love, Ima

Just finished prosecuting a guy who works as a chimney sweep, and now the song from Mary Poppins is running through my head. Chim-chim-a-nee, chim-chim-a-nee, chim-chim-cherie,...
I guess it's good thing I wasn't in domestic court. "Hit me baby one more time" just has a different tone.

I once had a bird's nest, complete with singing baby birds who sang all night long, in my chimney. I had to hire a chimney sweep to remove them and then cap my chimney.
I thanked him for his work.
"No, thank YOU," he said to me. "Your neighbors will be calling me next week."
When I quizzed him about that, he pointed out the different houses in our neighborhood where the Chimney Swifts had lived (where he had also removed their nests and capped the chimneys). Apparently, these birds move from house to house and he is an expert at forcing them to re-acclimate.
I filed this under the topic of "things you never knew you never knew."

My dad tried to extricate a family of squirrels from the overhead crawl space with mothballs. He extricated his daughter to the couch for several weeks when the mothball scent got sucked in by the window A/C.
