When I was in high school, the dad of one of my girlfriends was in a hurry to play golf in Brunswick County. He tried to beat the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge, and he blew by the barricade arms as they were dropping. Unfortunately, the bridge operator had already begun lifting the central span of the bridge. My friend's dad and his car drove/fell right off the bridge and into the Cape Fear River. My friend's dad was okay, but his golf clubs were ruined.

:9f:
Why would the clubs be ruined? The golf bag, yes. His shoes, yeah. Golf glove, absolutely. But the clubs? Nope. Unless they got bent by the impact they could have been re-gripped. Sounds like a good excuse to have the insurance company buy you a new set of clubs to me! Wonder if he claimed the golf balls too? =)) =)) =))
I'm surprised that my friend's dad survived the impact. That's quite a drop from the bridge into the river. Miraculously, Mr. Smith was able to escape his car and swim to shore. His car sunk to the bottom of the river, right there in the deepest part of the channel. He got a new car and new clubs out of his experience. (I didn't personally examine the old clubs or his car, so I'm not familiar with the extent of the damage, nor do I know why the insurance company replaced them. I'm just reporting what happened.)

Oh, "Good morning!"

:9f:
Ummmmmmm, yeah, in retrospect, he was very lucky to have survived. I've been over that bridge many times myself. They probably just scrapped the whole thing, contents and all, and he claimed everything that was in there. I apologize for my sarcasm. It was a little bit out of place.

Harumph. :9f:

When I got out of my car this morning, PHB was pulling in to his spot in the parking lot, even though the calendar lists him as on vacation.

I have heard desk drawers where (prescribed) Xanax is kept in a few offices, open at the sound of his voice.

Sarcasm? I didn't detect it. No apology necessary.

If your clubs sank to the bottom of the Cape Fear River, you'd claim them as a loss, too.
