It would be really fantastic to see an old dude in Indian summer like Perry win this. He had a great 2008 to make the Ryder Cup. He's less than 18 months from the Senior Tour.CameronBornAndBred wrote:Just turned it on to see Tiger bogie. Also saw Perry's birdie putt for the lead, that was nice.

Re: The Masters
Announcers just said about the pairing of Perry and his partner, "wonderful acheivement for both of these young men"..lol. I never would have thought different if I hadn't read your statement.throatybeard wrote: It would be really fantastic to see an old dude in Indian summer like Perry win this. Re: The Masters
You know what's even crazier, is TW-2005 is the only winner on the list. (Miller and Tom Weiskopf finished a stroke back of Jack Nicklaus is what is still regardedd as one of the really great Masters in 1975).CameronBornAndBred wrote:Thanks Throaty. Damn, those stats are insane.throatybeard wrote:Most Consecutive Birdies
7 - Steve Pate, 1999, third round
7 - Tiger Woods, 2005, third round
6 - Johnny Miller, 1975, third round
6 - Mark Calcavecchia, 1992, fourth round
6 - David Toms, 1998, fourth round
Anthony Kim is all over the map.
As I predicted, Messiah Eldrick duly birdied 13 and 15, so he's back to -3 with 3 holes left today. Campbell has tied Perry at -11. And Angel Cabrera is pretty solid. Won an Open a few years ago.

Try this on, CBB:
Most Cuts Made
37 - Jack Nicklaus
30 - Gary Player
27 - Raymond Floyd
25 - Ben Crenshaw
23 - Arnold Palmer
23 - Billy Casper
23 - Fred Couples
23 - Tom Watson
Nicklaus has made the cut at the Masters in more years than I've been alive. I wish I could say the same of Player, but I'm greying at the temples a little.

Well after Ozzie clueing me in on why the cut is lower in the masters, seeing that Jack did it 37 years is amazing. That's 2 less years than I've been alive.

Great save for Tiger, nice way to end the day. Too bad it didn't start better.

I was really dissapointed today with The Masters. I tuned in hoping Tiger would really make a run. I turned it off after seeing how far behind he was. I assume he's still pretty much out of it. As a bandwagon golf fan, I just had no interest in it if Tiger wasn't in the mix for Sunday.

Re: The Masters
Way to embody the Tigerbot stereotype even worse than my caricatures of it, EJ. Here we've got and incredibly dense top of the leaderboard with amazing stories like almost-49 year old Perry holding the 54-hole lead, and we've got people whining and tuning out becuase one red-shirted egomaniac isn't winning.
Shigo almost sank this putt from South Carolina or so. And Phil has started on fire, with 4 birdies in the first 6 holes.

Re: The Masters
HOLY CRAP, has Mickleson ever strapped on the rocket launcher here. He puts his drive on seven in the pine straw, and the announcers are saying he ought to swat it in the front bunker and see if he can get a sand save. He hits this insane hook around the trees and he's got like a two-foot putt for birdie on seven.
Cabrera and Perry are steady.

Re: The Masters
Thru 11, Mickelnuts is -10, and his playing partner, Tiger Woods, just parred and is now -7. Perry just blew an easier birdie, but still resides at -11. Angel C. is over par today..

Re: The Masters
Major tactical error by Phil with the 9I on twelve.
Perry finally birdied, and so did Campbell, so those guys are looking good. Furyk has also birdied to go -9.
Some guys are tied with redshirted egomaniac at -7, but of course you never see them on TV. He's in great shape on twelve with a par.
ETA: Merrick has just birdied sixteen to make four in a row. -8
Cabrera is the only one who's blowing up really.

Re: The Masters
Furyk is blowing up on #9. He double bogeys. He's at -7.
Mickelnuts & Woods birdie 13.
Campbell at -10.
Perry holding at -11, but should have birdied ANOTHER hole.
Oh yeah.... it's a fun Masters Sunday.

Re: The Masters
I take it back, I got confused about Perry. Nine pars on the front, including some knee-knockers.
Lefty is in close on fourteen and Egomaniac hits the false front and dribble off the green.
Flesch birdied sixteen to go to -8.
