BYU
So sad for BYU that they felt compelled to expel the basketball player for the rest of the season for violating honor code. However, it was no criminal activity. He had sex with his girlfriend.
Honor Code: no coffee, no tea, no caffeine soda drinks, no sex, no swearing, no smoking, no alcohol................. Well F**king A..... I am glad I didnt go to BYU.
I feel for the young man, and without him, BYU got their AZZ beat last night. This has ended the deep run that BYU may have made in the DANCE.
I understand Honor Codes and Ethics............. But those are so so strict.

***Off-color humor warning***
BYU: Where you can have as many wives as you want, you just can't, ahem, enjoy their company, until you're married.
In all seriousness, I respect BYU for standing by their university principles. They have seemingly dealt a crippling blow to their own season. However, I agree that their Honor Code is positively Draconian. Moreover, I highly doubt if this kid is the only one who is breaking the Code...he was just dumb enough to (reportedly) fail to use protection and impregnate his girlfriend. But seriously...you think Jimmer Fredette isn't getting laid?

Oh boy. I would have already gotten kicked out of BYU for something I did this morning.
I had a glass of tea.
I had a glass of tea.

Re: BYU
Well, he knew the rules when he signed with BYU. I feel sorry for the kid, and the girlfriend, but what happened shouldn't be a surprise. BYU tends to stick to its guns, and I appreciate their treating a star on their basketball team the same way they would treat any other student. That's sort of refreshing in the crass world of intercollegiate athletics. (Read: tarhole football; F$U football; etc. etc. etc.)
I'd like to hear Seth Curry's take on all this. Liberty has many of the same rules as BYU (although they approach Christianity from a different perspective, of course).
My former high school, a Christian school in Virginia, had the same dilemma a few years ago, but the basketball player was allowed to remain and the girlfriend was dismissed from school. I guess they needed the basketball player to guard Andre Dawkins. When I was in high school, the powers that be considered Liberty's rules not stringent enough for them to recommend. After all, girls could wear PANTS to class, no matter what the temperature. Cedarville, where girls could only wear pants to class when the temperature was below 32, was considered on the bubble.

Perhaps she really did pause when expressing her thought and wanted to show it. Maybe as she was typing, she did not know who she wanted to agree with and at that last instant thought, Lawgrad.wilson wrote:I disagree with, your curiously placed comma.TillyGalore wrote:I agree with, Lawgrad.

I kind of thought that too. Nevertheless, wilson is correct.EarlJam wrote:Perhaps she really did pause when expressing her thought and wanted to show it. Maybe as she was typing, she did not know who she wanted to agree with and at that last instant thought, Lawgrad.
