Agreed. Unfortunately my father in law loves it and makes everyone watch it at Christmas. It makes me want to poke my eyes out.wilson wrote:I hate that movie.CameronBornAndBred wrote:Wilson wants to see Bye, Bye, Birdie too!

OMG, blasphemy! This movie embodies the Christmas season!!! I would think you, Mr. Head Elf, of all people, would appreciate the greatness of A Christmas Story!DukeUsul wrote:Agreed. I even saw the musical version this past November. Yes, there was a big ensemble number titled, "You'll shoot your eye out." It was great! (If you like the movie, that is.)

That's the one holiday film that I really don't like. Never have. It is not part of the Yuletide film canon around these parts.DevilAlumna wrote:OMG, blasphemy! Most people say that is it is the intellect which makes a great scientist. They are wrong: it is character.

I think I am coming down with something, or the existing bug is getting worse again. Last night I discovered a knot on my neck, just under my ear (swollen gland). Started running a fever today, and I'm getting a sore throat and headache right now. Think it may be time to go to a doctor.

Same here. I'll watch virtually any other Christmas movie and love it. I never grew up watching A Christmas Story, I saw it for the first time in my twenties. I hate the characters, they're unlikable, and not very funny.wilson wrote:That's the one holiday film that I really don't like. Never have. Right. And the continual obsession with "my holiday will be unsatisfying if I don't get this one thing (a weapon, no less)" is really objectionable to me, and totally counter to the Christmas spirit.DukeUsul wrote:I hate the characters, they're unlikable, and not very funny.

I blame the FSU loss last night on the fact that the people in charge at the stadium didn't play ZOMBIE NATION to whip up the fans in the last two minutes. They always seem to reserve it for games against us.bjornolf wrote:Damn. Come on FSU, you're killin' me!
Perhaps the FSU fans need to wear tie-dye t-shirts and frizzed out wigs too. ;)

I just shaved my beard. I told myself I'd keep a goatee at first this year, just to see what I thought, so it's there, but I'm pretty sure I don't like it. I'm gonna make myself sleep on it, but I'm fairly certain that it'll get the chop tomorrow. Nevertheless, this fresh, clean face feels really good, just as it does every year. I'm about to go for a run. I bet I'll be really extra super duper fast.

The goatee just went away. I immediately hated it. My face is smooth, and my dimples are liberated. ;)captmojo wrote:Everyone deserves a lower drag coeffecient.

HYSFU!
Hey You! Shut the Fuck Up!
Went to the local police station upon my return from work today to see if I would have to become a Bassett Hound bondsman. No such luck. His owner has found him there and picked him up this morning. It worked.

We seem to have an inordinate amount of animal adventures at home. Snakes, opossums, skunks, cats, dogs, hawks, deer, drunks and many other critters. The First Mate used to be a state wildlife rehabilitator. The only critters I can remember her shying from was once when a lady called about turning over some recently hatched buzzards. Un-uhh! People were calling, being referred to her from the state wildlife officer. She didn't renew her permit after that buzzard episode.
