True Blue 'Cue Crew Tailgates 2011
Are you ready for some football!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OK, we're just starting the ACC basketball season, but planning for the 2011 Brunchgate football tailgate season is already underway and we are starting a membership drive to our friends here on CTN.
There are seven (7) home football games next fall and that means seven fantastic Brunchgates in Blue Devil Alley! For only $75 for a season's membership, you can feast on the phenomenal "chefistry" of TNTDevil and CameronBornandBred, and occasionally others! They start setting up the grills as early as 7 a.m., even when the game is at night! And we stay for hours after the game, even when it's a noon game, so we truly get a full day of tailgating if you wish. Everybody brings food and/or beverages of their choice, and there's always plenty to go around and quite often "something special"!
So if you'd like to join Brunchgate, post here and PM me, and I'll give you all the info on how to sign up!

Re: Brunchgate 2011
I'm already hungry!! Brunchgating gets better every year. Hopefully next year we will have very few true brunchgates and more late day tailgates.

Re: Brunchgate 2011
It's a week or two earlier this year than it has been in recent years. The last several Spring Games have been played on the Saturday of Reunion Weekend, which this year is April 8-10. I always thought it was a good idea for those events to coincide, especially as the football program seeks to bring more fans back into the fold while it improves.OZZIE4DUKE wrote:I believe that is on March 26th.DevilWearsPrada2.0 wrote:When is the Spring Game?

Wonder why they switched it this year?

Re: Brunchgate 2011
Coach Cutcliffe wants to begin spring practice as early as possible. Last year the Spring Scrimmage was about the fourth weekend in March. His reasoning is that starting spring practice as early a possible gets the guys back to playing as soon as possible. Starting early allows more time to make adjustments and prepare for the upcoming season. There is the caveat that if the team goes to a bowl, spring practice will start later.wilson wrote:It's a week or two earlier this year than it has been in recent years. Parking is also an issue when other activities are going on. Reunion Weekends really take over space on campus. The best parking available for the spring scrimmage is filled with tents on reunion weekends.
Re: Brunchgate 2011
These are all good points, but I would love to hear how much stock Coach Cut placed in having alumni around for the game. A couple of years ago, I attended with a bunch of my old buddies, and not one of us would have done so had we not been in town for our reunion. A lot of other people seemed to be there for similar reasons. I know that Coach knows best, I just think it's a bummer to have cut out a potential stream of supporters in the form of thousands of people who are on campus anyway, really happy to be (back) there, and looking for something to do with their Duke friends.Devil in the Blue Dress wrote:Coach Cutcliffe wants to begin spring practice as early as possible. And hell, parking? That's always been a flippin' nightmare on campus anyway.
In the end, Spring Game attendance doesn't really matter anyway, and I know that Cutcliffe and his staff have the program's best interests in mind. I just feel that they may be underestimating the utility of alum attendance a little.

I like the name CRAZIETALK.NET for the sign over the TENT's NAME!
Maybe a small sign to read BRUNCHGATE (over on the side).
