Is anybody else having internet probs?

Post by Ima Facultiwyfe » February 16th, 2011, 3:24 pm

This thing is nutty today at my house. First it lost connection completely. Got them to hook me back up, but still it's taking so long to load sites ( if it does at all) that it even times out or gives me a message that it could not find the site. I've given it every chance on three computers, one hard wired and two on the router. I'm ready to scream! Any clues as to what the cause could be? Everything was working just great when i went to bed last night.

Don't know if you have tried, but if not, unplug the power from your modem and router. Then pug the modem back in, and after it's lit up, plug in the router. If that still doesn't fix it, and your internet provider says it's not them, your router may have issues.

The wireless around here pretty much sucks butt all the time, so I feel your pain, but I have little in the way of suggestions as to how to make it better.

...which pretty much makes my response worthless, but at least I squeezed two more posts out of it. :-??

I find that rebooting the router and/or the modem fixes most of the connectivity problems encountered here, especially when one wireless connection doesn't connect properly and another one and/or a wired desktop does. B-)

I've been disconnecting and reconnecting all afternoon. It works for a bit and then gets ornery. I'll give it another day to see if it straightness itself out before I go to plan B ..... whatever that is. X(

Plan B sounds like replacing your router. It's obviously not just a wireless issue. You can verify this by plugging the modem straight into your laptop..if it works fine..then it's your router. If it doesn't, then it's the modem. You will have to reboot your modem before your plug it into your laptop.

Call your cable provider and vent to them.

Everything seems to be back to normal. You can't convince me it wasn't Time Warner Cable's fault, even though they'd never admit it. :Stop:
