Westminster Dog Show 2011
Saw the first night, and all I can say is...
THE AUSSIE WAS ROBBED!!
FINALLY, the Aussie gets represented by a black tri, instead of a blue merle. The Aussie didn't get in the top 5 for the herders.
Having said that, KUDOs to the Tervuren for coming in second in its group. Any comments from Windsor?
What do you think of the new Icelandic Sheepdog breed in the competition?
The toy group winning Pekingese was hideous.

I hate Pekingeses considerably less than a lot of people do, but I understand why people don't like them.Lavabe wrote:Saw the first night, and all I can say is...

The bulldog was just ridiculously cute.
Above all, I am glad that (for once) neither of the stupid, terrible poodles won.
I couldn't care less who wins Best in Show, but I will enjoy watching. My aunt and uncle, the two biggest dog people in a family full of dog people, come to Mom's every year to watch, since they don't have a TV. That's why I'm making this delicious, delicious chili and corn bread. Should be a fun evening, as always.

The Obamadog won. Sammy came in 4th. Stupid Kuvasz took the spot of the Pyrenees.Lavabe wrote:So far, I have Great Pyrenees, Saint Bernard, Mastiff, Samoyed in the working group.

Terriers up next.
Time to do some work while they take on this group.

I wouldn't gave given the nod to the Obamadog. Just not my type.Lavabe wrote:The Obamadog won. Sammy came in 4th. Stupid Kuvasz took the spot of the Pyrenees.Lavabe wrote:So far, I have Great Pyrenees, Saint Bernard, Mastiff, Samoyed in the working group.
I am watching the terriers so that Sasha can see what a Miniature Schnauzer is really supposed to look like.

I disagree. We all thought she was a worthy champion. A very beautiful dog, with a noble carriage. This household was pleased.Lavabe wrote:FREAKIN' Scottish Deerhound won Best in Show.

Re: Westminster Dog Show 2011
I liked the Scottish Deerhound. I'm glad the pet psychic that told the Pekinese it would win was wrong. That thing looked like a mop scooting around the ring. I thought its hair was way too fluffy. But, what do I know.wilson wrote:I disagree. We all thought she was a worthy champion. A very beautiful dog, with a noble carriage. Plus I thought it was neat that the handler of Hickory had also won as a Junior at Westminster.

Yes, I know that I could have added this to the prior post but that wouldn't have been as much fun. This way I get three posts instead of one.DukieInKansas wrote:Plus I thought it was neat that the handler of Hickory had also won as a Junior at Westminster.
