Hey Bilas!
I finally had enough last night and turned you off. That was a first for me.
Today, since I was more calm, I decided to watch my recording of the game in case I had been too harsh in my judgement of your biased attitude. I actively listened for any positive remark you might make about Duke's play. The second time around was worse than the first.
All I heard was:
"THAT'S how you beat Duke !" (You sounded almost giddy!)
"Maryland is such a great venue!" (I guess you're big enough to defend yourself!)
"Their students had a pep rally (imagine THAT) and have been here for "four or five hours" (WOW four or five!)
Chuckles and jokes about Nolan's serious collision LAST year. (L A S T year!)
" A charge (called against Duke) would be huge!" (Guess your wishful thinking let you down.)
"If they (Terps)can just get it down to single digits by the half this will be a new ball game." (Your drool was palatable.)
You never gave it a break.
None of that commentary would be out of line..... in fact I'd have little trouble with it, had there been even ONE counterbalancing comment out of you. But, even as Nolan was working his magic late in the game and your partner set you up with a prompt giving you a chance to say something positive, you chose to say something luke warm like "Yes he's as good a guard as there is right now", then shifted the conversation to one about how terrific Harrison Barnes is!!!! What did Harrison Barnes have to do with ANYthing?
I could go on and on, but I'm just getting mad all over again and it's not good for my blood pressure.
Dimples aside, you're just pathetic, bless your heart.
Love, Ima

Re: Hey Bilas!
We discussed last night chez Merlin whether Jay was under orders to be sickeningly pro-twerps so as to please ESPN and not be considered a homer.
Well, we didn't all discuss it. The dogs were unified in their belief that Jay should be muted. That is what we did, and the game was much more pleasant.

Jay still reads and posts on DBR some. If it bothers you this much, you should copy/paste it and send it to him via PM over there AND start a thread with it. I'm serious. Really serious. I don't listen to the color/play-by-play but when I heard he was laughing about the dirty, illegal screen that was set on Nolan and the subsequent concussion, I lost a ton of respect for him.Ima Facultiwyfe wrote:I finally had enough last night and turned you off. Re: Hey Bilas!
I had on the TV.... but couldnt stand it either. I always have on the Duke radio, when I watch away games at home.
When they showed the Screen that Maryland player Neal, did to Nolan (in 2009)..... Bilas laughed.
If you remember, Gerald Henderson got so upset and fired up, that he dunked over Neal's head. I remember the analysts (may have been Gminski.... Saying.... "Holy Cow, Gerald Henderson. He has an extra step on his ladder." Neal just flattened Nolan, slap out with the concusion.
Bilas was laughing at it. And I heard his comments.......... thats why I muted the TV. Had Bob Harris on Duke Radio, and Duke stats on laptop.

Re: Hey Bilas!
There is about a 60-70 post thread on DBR now about Bilas and most all of yesterday's stuff is Bilas-bashing and rightfully so, IMHO. I understand he is an espn employee and a color/analyst/play-by-play guy and he can't be a Duke homer, but c'mon, at least be neutral and replay/complain about the bad calls equally, not just the ones that favor Duke. And don't go out of your way to fawn about/root for other programs and defend their fans while you are calling a Duke game. Oh, and again Jay, concussions and possible trips to the dentist/neurologist are NOT laughing matters.devildeac wrote:Jay still reads and posts on DBR some.
