At least, you have been given notice, that your job is phasing out in a few months.

For some of us, we were told on that day, and had to box up our personal effects.

I know many unemployed/underemployed professional educated people. I have several friends, that have joined the ranks of the downward economic spiral.

Hopefully, you live in an area, where you will be able to find other work, even though it might not be what you want to do.

Good luck to all of us, in the same situation. It is stressful. Just try and stay positive, and CHIN UP!!!!

Thank you and I agree. If they keep their end of the bargain then I feel blessed in that regard. Just not the news I needed one day after totaling the car. God I need a Duke game!

There are times when I wish I had done an apprenticeship instead of going to university as I think my job prospects would be far better. Or maybe I should've studied something more marketable than History as even a graduate degree in that discipline doesn't seem to be worth anything (you'd think the graduate degree itself, regardless of discipline, would be worth something).

You do everything right and get the education that is sold to you from your earliest days as the Golden Ticket yet end up screwed. Sometimes I think we were sold a lie.

You also have to wonder how long this can go on before things reach a tipping point.

Sucks to hear this EJ, especially after you endured a long job search to find this position. Hopefully the time between now and the phasing out of your position will enable you to find something else.

EJ, that's terrible! Vibes for you to find something else, and to get better from your wreck. :wizard: :wizard:

At least you did get some notice so you could see what else is available. B was on vacation when his general manager called and told him that he'd been fired, and B needed to go get his stuff, cuz he was gone, too.

Thanks for asking, EJ. He is fine, applying for stuff. Fixing supper for me. :happy-bouncyblue: :character-chef: Buying and selling old watches and fountain pens. We are doing well, probably better in most ways than when he was at that effing car job.

Oh, EJ, EJ, EJ! Bless your heart, really. Nobody deserves this kind of run of bad luck. Seriously, you should try to get up here for a game. When we've been going through rough times, just the pure energy in Cameron has been the shot in the arm that got us through sometimes. Let us all know if there is something we can do to help it happen. Crazietalkers will all be lookin' for ya.

EJ..... join the group of unemployed/underemployed college professionals.

I always, as the saying went, keep your nose clean, make good grades, go to college and get your degree(s) and you will have a job or career in the field you want to. I was sold a pile of crap. BS (bull crap) MS (more of the same) PhD (Piled High and Deep).

I did an internship (a couple of them), after college graduation, and not making much money, but working like a dog in the dirt. And worked, the entire time, from high school through college.

Had someone, told me in January, that my job was being phased out in May..... that certainly does give you a window of opportunity to seek some other employment, hopefully that will meet your financial obligations. It also, allows you, not to go in debt or spend on things you dont need, and save save save. It is a blessing your employer gave you HEADS UP NOTICE. I know it sucks. But its far better, that my notice. Layoffs suck. But at least, I filed unemployment, and I am working part time. Worked more during Christmas season. Back to the grindstone, of seeking a perm job with reasonal benefits.

Prayers and thoughts to you EJ. DWP

Go Duke!!!! and for tonight, go Clemson! GTHC!!!
