Thanks. There are so many more tears of joy than tears of sadness when we think about my Dad. Tough time of year. I gotta go to bed now. Y'all are making me misty again.
And that is exactly how he would want it. :wizard: :ymhug: :wizard:

I didn't mean to make you get all misty. So long as they're tears of joy, they're allowed!

I hope you get to keep your parents around for a long, time, AD. Mom and Dad hugs are the best!
Thanks! I am lucky. My dad's 70th birthday was this year, and my parents' 50th anniversary is this summer. Pretty major milestones.

Ain't it great that we have this forum to show support for one another?

Christmas time is here.
Happiness and cheer.

Let it be your favorite time of year.

I was planning to head out on Friday morning to drive to my parents' house for Christmas. The weather forecast now includes a winter storm for Friday. Think I may be leaving on Thursday...

Hey, at least both traumatic events are on the same day, so you don't have to be sad twice!

Seriously, it's wonderful that both your sons called you today. How very thoughtful.

It's tough for a Daddy's Girl to lose her dad, no matter how old either of them are. Remember the happy times with your dad, and know how proud he is of you.
I think my dad had some sort of foresight about the demise of my marriage. His dying on my 14th anniversary was a message to me, I think. This is the worst day of the year for me.

My dad was the only man who has ever loved me unconditionally. No matter how badly I screwed up, he still loved me with his whole heart. I wish I could have that again.
While we can never ever take your dad's place, I hope you know we love you with our whole hearts, no matter what, and we know you love us back. :ymhug: :ymhug: :ymhug: :ymhug:

That is the best statement any daughter can make about her dad, and that love you felt is why the grief is so acute.

You may never find that love again, but don't settle for anything less, okay? I got married the first time because I knew my father was dying and didn't want to be alone in the world, and I discovered pretty quickly that there were much worse things than being alone in the world.
