I am making the most incredible gifts for my co-workers this year, and they are turning out beautifully!
I took black and white pictures of our building, printed them on tissue paper, attached them to tiles with Mod Podge, and over the weekend I will seal them with an acrylic sealer. I'll put little bumpers on the bottom of the tiles, and then I'll have a set of four coasters to present to each of my law partners and our staff.
I am so pleased with the way these things are turning out.

This was the first Friday night in months that I haven't been home, except for when I went with B to Charlotte a couple weekends for his class. Now that he's unemployed, he wants to do things he was too tired to do before, like see Christmas pageants and work out at the gym.CathyCA wrote:I feel like one.captmojo wrote:No you aren't.CathyCA wrote:Sigh. No one here is a loser, especially you. You have done a wonderful job of raising your sons, and you have a very successful career. If you're home on a Friday night, it's not because you are a loser; it's because your standards are high. Would you rather be out (or home) with Ex-Lax or someone very like him? That's certainly not a better option than being by yourself.
It can be very lonely to be by one's self, but it's a blessing compared to being stuck with the wrong person or in the wrong situation.
Ok, I'll stop lecturing now.
to AD and CB&B, too, who are also home alone tonight.

Jose Cuervo Christmas Cookies
1 cup of water
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup of sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup or brown sugar
4 large eggs
1 cup nuts
2 cups of dried fruit
1 bottle Jose Cuervo Tequila
Sample the Cuervo to check quality..
Take a large bowl, check the Cuervo again, to be sure it is of the highest quality. Pour one level cup and drink.
Turn on the electric mixer. Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl.
Add one peastoon of sugar. Beat again.
At this point it's best to make sure the Cuervo is still okay, try another cup just in case.
Turn off the mixerer thingy.
Break 2 leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit.
Pick the frigging fruit off the floor. Mix on the turner. If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaters, just pry it loose with a drewscriver.
Sample the Cuervo to check for tonsisticity.
Next, sift two cups of salt, or something. Who geeves a sheet.
Check the Jose Cuervo. Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts.
Add one table.
Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink. Whatever you can find. Greash the oven.
Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over.
Don't forget to beat off the turner.
Finally, throw the bowl through the window, finish the Cose Juervo and make sure to put the stove in the wishdasher.

I'm sniffling my way through the recording of the Elizabeth Edwards funeral. The minister who gave the homily was one of the celebrants at my dad's funeral. The last hymn at her funeral was one that he sang with a quartet of ministers at my dad's service.
I am just one sniffly mess right now.

Re: LTE 2.0
Ugh. We had a bunch of friends over for our annual Gingerbread party. I had set the DVR to record the game, since I was going to be tied up with prep for the party. Just sat down tho watch it and it didn't record.
And not for the reason you think. I did see that the game was moved to FOX 50 here in the triangle (thanks CB&B!). But I had gone online this morning to DirecTV's site to tell it to record FOX 50 from 12:00 to 2:00. What I had to do was tell it to record the shows normally on at that time - that lame Chris Rock sitcom, the Major League III movie. Well apparently, between the time I set that up and when the game started, the guide got updated with the game at noon and those shows got bumped to starting at 12. So the DTV box thinking I actually wanted those stupid shows recorded nothing at noon and then started up at 2.
Ugh.
