Quite the beatdown going on in miami tonight. Hope it carries over to next weekend, too.

It's been a day of unpacking and watching baseball for me. Reading of staining a deck makes me feel really guilty that I'm not doing likewise with mine. However, I'm thinking that I will replace what is there come spring time. It is original to the house(15 years old) and frankly wasn't that good of a deck to begin with.

Yes, that too. I'm not wasting any stain.captmojo wrote:You will waste less using a brush.CathyCA wrote:
Yes, but the paint store guys tell me, and I know from staining my deck in California that the best way to get complete coverage is to work the stain in with the brush bristles.
The prior owners seriously neglected my house. I'm trying to protect it.
Something to remember when painting, too. ;)
I still have a few more boards to work on. The sun set before I could finish yesterday.

Do not feel guilty. You have your priorities: unpacking and settling in. The deck project will wait for you. . .YmoBeThere wrote:It's been a day of unpacking and watching baseball for me. Meant to post this yesterday on what would have been John Lennon's 70th birthday. I miss John and George.

Doorbell rang a little while ago. When I answered, there stood neighbor Dmitri Sonovobic's wife, Pirini.
Well, she shows up here with a gift to thank me for entertaining Dim over here last night. It is a bowl of homemade cheese, made from muskrat milk blended with goat vomit. I was gracious. She said "Lowtow!", turned around and waddled back across the street. God..how this shit stinks! But, it'll keep the evil spirits away...and most people.
PS: I think her footsteps killed the grass where she stepped going across the yard.
You may recognize her. She did some guest appearances on Second City TV back in the 70s. Out of the spotlight now, and why not. She's never really had to work. She inherited millions from her late father. He made his fortune selling vowels to folks back in the Czech Republic.Well, she shows up here with a gift to thank me for entertaining Dim over here last night. Re: LTE 2.0
My bank account got hacked over the weekend. Stupid people purchased an AARP membership, bought some stuff at a store in Illinois, and made a payment to Microsoft and to Google.
Fortunately, I caught the unauthorized charges.
Unfortunately, I've had to cancel my debit card and it will take a week for the new card to get here.
Seriously? AARP?

Similar thing happened to our son this summer. His First Citizens account was hacked for $900+ by Capital One and then again a week or two later by the same thieves and/or idiots. He also had to cancel his account/card. He did get the money re-deposited.CathyCA wrote:My bank account got hacked over the weekend. Re: LTE 2.0
I've spoken with AARP and they've already authorized a refund of the charges. The lady at AARP told me that the hackers had listed my birthday as 5/20/82, and that was the huge clue to the AARP that it was a fraudulent charge. Why would a 28 year old be joining AARP?devildeac wrote:Similar thing happened to our son this summer. Tomorrow I get to contact Google, Microsoft and that store in Illinois.
