2010 Washington Redskins thread...
This is the group therapy thread for the 2010 season. Post your thoughts here.
My first thought is that this is one of the most brutal schedules I've ever seen for a 4-12 team. Colts? Vikings? Titans? Packers? Texans? And that doesn't even take into account the six games in the division. Everyone's saying the division is down a little, but the teams still beat the snot out of each other. Ouch. I think the best chance we have of those games is actually the Vikings. It's a home game. Sidney Rice MAY be back, but he'll be out of sync. Favre may be beat up at that point and not go. They've got Chicago and Green Bay right before the Skins, and you KNOW those are gonna be bruisers.
Hopefully with Shanny we can do what Zorn never did and win the ones we should and the ones that are fairly even matchups. If we can beat the Rams, Bears, Lions, Bucs, and Jags, and split in the division, that'll put us at 8-8. If we can steal one or two from the lopsided ones, which we COULD do since they're all home games, that would give the Skins a winning record, which after a 4-12 year would be a HUGE step in the right direction. If we had last year's schedule, I think this team could have gone 12-4. That schedule was WAY easier.
Of course, it could ALL fall apart and we could be 4-12 again. I think we'll get a GREAT gauge of our season in the the Dallas game. We don't necessarily have to win, but if the D plays well and Trent Williams can keep DeMarcus Ware at least SOMEWHAT off of McNabb, I think it bodes well. If Dallas marches up and down the field on us and big TW is getting beaten like a drum, and hence McNabb is running for his life, we're in trouble.
What do y'all think?

I hope McNabb has a great year, except when playing the Iggles.

Hamlin has a shot this weekend, but Blech is on a tear. STILL no hope for Joey Freakin' Logano.

Re: 2010 Washington Redskins thread...
This is why I HATE the Redskins. They MAKE me love them, they MAKE me care with emotional, tough wins like that, then they bash my hopes and love to the rocks like a tsunami tossing a dingy around week 7 with a four game losing streak to teams that won't even make the playoffs. I was totally convinced we were gonna lose last night when Carlos Rogers dropped that interception that was in his freakin' hands.
What an emotional roller coaster end to the game, too. We Redskins fans went from depression to elation instantly when that yellow hankie hit the ground, just as the Dallas fans deflated like yesterday's birthday party's latex balloons. The best was the insane celebration by the Cowboys in the end zone, then seeing them lying there in the back corner with nothing left but that feeling. I can understand their celebration, but that's why I always thought that players looked like asses celebrating some stupid play. If you score a touchdown, that's one thing. If you stop them on 3rd and goal to force a kick or on 4th and goal on the line, I understand. If you stop them on 4th and inches to seal the game and give the ball back to your team, I see. If you score a touchdown, I get it. But when you're down, the guy just ran for 6 yards, and you got a shoestring tackle, I don't see the big deal. Wow, you did your job. He gained 6 yards, man. Or celebrating when you get a first down. Yea, if it's 4th and 12 and you're down 3 with 45 seconds to go...well, then you should be getting your ass back to the line for the next play!

The older I get, the less interest I take in football (especially pro football), and my first love in sports, the Washington Redskins. Nevertheless, I tuned in last night. There is always something wonderful about beating the Cowboys. Woohoo!

Hey, DU, I turned on the Philly game in the second half and saw Michael Vick. What happened to Kolb? Did he get hurt, or was he stinkin' it up? By the time I turned it on, they weren't really commenting on it anymore.DukeUsul wrote:Thank you for helping the Cowgirls to embarrass themselves.

Well, first he was stinking up the joint. 5/10 for 26yds IIRC.bjornolf wrote:Hey, DU, I turned on the Philly game in the second half and saw Michael Vick. What happened to Kolb? Then he got knocked out of the game with a concussion. He actually came back in for a series after getting the doc's ok, but had to get pulled.
Now Philly has a QB controversy if Kolb is healthy. Vick looked much better in the 2nd half.
I'd be laughing at all the Philly fans who wanted to boot McNabb if it didn't suck so bad that our team will be lucky to finish 6-10 this year.

Re: 2010 Washington Redskins thread...
Lots of fun watching the game last night.
I think the defense looked good. I know Dallas' line was pretty banged up, but we still put a respectful amount of pressure on the QB last night; maybe more in one game than we did all of last season. We still have a painful schedule, but I'm more excited today than I have been since Joe came back. I hope we can work out the kinks on offense and start putting some numbers on the board!

Were the Skins uniforms different last night, or were they always that ugly? They seemed extra burgandy and mustardy looking.

They decided to revive the uniforms of the hay day in the 80s a little bit. I liked it. On HD they looked gold.CameronBornAndBred wrote:Were the Skins uniforms different last night, or were they always that ugly? They seemed extra burgandy and mustardy looking.
