Re: Your favorite snacking apple
Since apples aren't quite there yet, I've found myself eating a lot of local peaches lately. Mmmmm.

Re: Your favorite snacking apple
Thank you to whomever suggested the Cameo -- great crunchy texture. Not sure about the flavor -- the ones I had had some nice subtle flavors but I would have liked more sweetness.

I had a Cameo this morning, and it was pretty good. It could have used an extra day of ripening, though.

Love gettin' in here late. (unfashionably)
...and who needs bungee cords? Hell, I've got chains!!!!
I like apples. Red and/or golden yellow.
I like pears. Red or yellow.
I like grapes. Pick any color you'd like.
We have a dance up here, we affectionately call the 'Green Apple Quick Step. Many of you may understand this. I never eat the green ones when I'm very far from home. Nor dor I eat them while en route. They removed the toilet facilities from my rig many moons ago.
Not a peach fan.
After I've said all this, I answered incorrectly on the poll. I voted red/golden. My true favorite apple is a pineapple.
Hawaiian variety, please!

Had a really crappy Gala apple; not crisp, grainy.
Should have known better!

I'm so glad someone bumped this thread up.
Honeycrisp apples just showed up at my grocery store last week and despite the price premium I picked up a couple -- they are AMAZING. Thanks to whomever pointed them out. I'll pick up 1 or 2 each wk til their gone as my weekly grocery indulgence.

I still stand by my original choice of honeycrisp/candycrisp. I like the others, but hard to knock them off the top. The only one I've had that knocks them off is Macoun, but it's SO hard to find them outside of NY/NJ.lawgrad91 wrote:Got some Honeycrisp.

I LOVE this batch of Gold Rush that I just bought. Crisp, sweet, low on tartness.
