What do you Like on YOUR Wiener?
Okay, just for argument and debate sake, let's say mustard and ketchup, along with wiener and bun, are a given. From there, your are then told, with a loud, authoritative voice:
"YOU MAY ONLY CHOOSE THREE MORE TOPPINGS TO ENHANCE THE FLAVOR OF YOUR WIENER!"
So, here are your other toppings. There are NO other choices. Pick three! And discuss WHY!

Re: What do you Like on YOUR Wiener?
Yeah...what DukeUsul said, and what Ozzie will no doubt chime in on in good time. I DO have to have mustard, but ketchup on a hotdog is blasphemy. My other three chosen toppings, since I'm limited to only three, are kraut, onions and relish. (But not on the same dog at the same time. Kraut deserves it's own dog with mustard only.)

P.S. Since I will be providing the hot dogs this Saturday, I'll be watching this thread with interest...if you put ketchup on your hotdog I reserve the right to take it away from you.

Re: What do you Like on YOUR Wiener?
A real do has four toppings - but if limited to three it will be Mustard, Chili & Onions (I'll sneak on the Slaw when you aren't looking).

Re: What do you Like on YOUR Wiener?
Oh, I know. And I respect that. I just didn't want to make it an option. Look, in this hypothetical situation, consider "to have" or "to not have" mustard or ketchup as a selection you make before the final "toppings" offering. They are separate, that's all I'm trying to say.DukeUsul wrote:Ahem. Mustard and ketchup are NOT a given.

Look, I personally love mustard AND ketchup (not saying I really love one over the other.......no wait, I love ketchup more), but please do not think that I'm trying to force these condiments down your throats. No. I have more respect for personal freedoms and choices for that.
I worded the situation poorly, and for that, I apologize. All I meant to say was that in the context of this poll, I don't even want you to be thinking about mustard and ketchup at all. But I knew that if I did not mention mustard or ketchup in some way, that the pro-mustards and the pro-ketchups would come out and attack me. In the spirit of trying to do the right thing, I fatoongled. Again, I apologize.
Please, I ask that moving forward, be you pro-mustard or pro-ketchup, or anti-mustard or anti-ketchup, please, PLEASE do not let this thread's identity, it's very soul, be that of a "do you like ketchup or mustard on your hot dog" kind of debate.
As the founding father of this thread, I assure you that I never intended such discourse. No. Instead, focus on all the other toppings from which you have to choose. Putting ketchup and mustard completely out of mind, ask yourself, "Of the toppings listed, what would I most prefer to have on my wiener?"
Doing this will make for the most effective poll possible in this area of culinary debate.
Thank You,
-EarlJam

Re: What do you Like on YOUR Wiener?
I'm with CB&B. No ketchup! I chose chili, relish, and slaw, but not necessarily at the same time. I like a good mustard on a hot dog. Sometimes that's it. Sometimes it's mustard and relish. Sometimes it's mustard and chili, and like indoor, the slaw gets snuck on when no one is looking.

Re: What do you Like on YOUR Wiener?
What CB&B said I'd say about mustard! Yuck!
An all beef hot dog, preferably kosher but not necessary. Smothered in sour sauerkraut, and nothing else. If kraut is not available, then ketchup, perhaps with a little green pickle relish. And I will say that both Hardee's (1/4 pound) and Sonic's (footlong) chile, cheese and onion dogs are quite appealing when I'm in the mood.
I'm partial to the 1/4 pound Costco brand all beef hot dogs. I'll be bringing those to the Alabama game; well, maybe not. That's pastrami-fest, courtesy of the Cheermom delivery service from Chutzpah Deli!!

Re: What do you Like on YOUR Wiener?
I had a set of new toppings on a hot dog at a Stewart's Root Beer stand in Tuckerton, NJ this past week. It was their Hound Dog - which my in-laws tell ms is the same thing as what they grew up with as an "Italian Hot Dog" (who's ever heard of that?).
Hot dog, onions, peppers, cheez whiz and potatoes. It was DEEEE-LISH-OUS

Agreed. Mayo on a hot dog? That, to me, is gross physically AND metaphorically.CameronBornAndBred wrote:Hell no. Mayo is even more blasphemous than ketchup.CathyCA wrote:Mayonnaise isn't a choice?

I don't want to see this thread go in the direction of mayonnaise.

Put me in the ketchup/relish crowd.
Best hot dog I've had in my life was the one I bought at the Statue of Liberty a couple of years ago. I'd love to know what brand they were.

You ain't right, son. ;)DukeUsul wrote:I had a set of new toppings on a hot dog at a Stewart's Root Beer stand in Tuckerton, NJ this past week.
