Favorite Cameron Celebrity
Discussion in another thread has led me to ask this:
Who is your favorite celebrity to have appeared in the stands during a men's basketball game in Cameron Indoor Stadium? Why?
Donald Trump?
Bill Cosby?

Re: Favorite Cameron Celebrity
Honestly, my favorite is when the Duke stars from past come to visit (e.g. when Laettner was there for the last unc game). I love to see how they are still tied to the program. I don't think you'll ever see Greg Newton paying Cameron a visit for a game again.

Re: Favorite Cameron Celebrity
One game day, this guy came by the office, sat down and visited with me for a few minutes and then asked, "Where's Mike?"
"He's in the locker room," I told him.
"Tell him I stopped by," he said.
"Can I get your name," I asked.
He smiled, "Curt Gowdy."
I hadn't recognized him.
Other favorites: Denny Crum, Ralph Sampson (the tallest person I ever recall seeing) in person, Jim Valvano, Bob Knight

In November of 2005, I was in the same line as Ralph Sampson at (dang, I can't think of the restaurant) to pick up a Thanksgiving turkey. People were snapping photos. It was a long line that looked something like this:CathyCA wrote:

If you ever go to Japan and wait to get on a busy subway, you'll be the i in that line. I was, and I'm only 5/9" tall. It was nice to see over everyone else's head!EarlJam wrote:

I ran into Ralph Sampson on the old Stapleton Airport in Denver. He was leaning against a column with his hand resting on the ceiling beam. It really looked wierd. He is tallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll.

I adore seeing Mike Gminski in Cameron. As for stars, my favorite was Matt McConaughey!!!!! I still love that he wore a Duke shirt in the movie "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days"

Well, in this day and time, either you are or you aren't. I'd say you'd have to be one to wear the shirt in so many scenes or you'd take a lot of heat! So, bless his heart!DukePA wrote:I don't know if he is an official Duke fan, but I like to think he is.EarlJam wrote:Good one! I'd forgotten about that shirt in the movie. He's a Texas Ex..... University of Texas, Austin alum. I think when he was at the Duke game, he accompanied a friend who's a Dukie. He, like many others, is drawn to sitting with the winners.EarlJam wrote:Good one! I'd forgotten about that shirt in the movie. It would be cool if the nation's winningest football or baseball program named their stadium, "Magnetic Field."
Or maybe not.
