Tropical Storm Colin didn't really amount to anything but Tropical Storm Earl(jam) has developed into a category 2. I guess that just proves that EJ is better at blowing!

It's a Cat 4 now, and could possibly become a Cat 5 hurricane. Someone call the Rolling Stones, quick!

Seriously, I hope it stays well out to sea. My personal brush with barely Cat 1 Fran in 1996 was the last time I "rooted" for a storm to strengthen. I never want to hear that roar again.

Don't look now, but they're projecting possible brushes with places BEFORE it hits Canada:

Those of us in South Florida are pleased that Earl is not visiting. I hope those in the Carolina's and further north can also avoid a brush with the dasterdly Earl. A Cat 4 or 5 is absolutely no joke. Destruction is extensive and deaths probable. I was in Homestead, FL (Andrew, 1992) and there is still evidence of the Damage - 18 years later. :sigh:

Three years have passed since our night out in Toronto and you still consider me the best. Thanks Colchar! I am flattered! :)

Where in South Florida are you? I visit Ft. Lauderdale several times each year. (Hey DD - no "thanks for the warning" comment from the peanut gallery! :)) )

You must've been really drunk that night because I had something else on the go and couldn't make it into TO. Not sure who you were with, other than your brother, but it sure wasn't me!

I'm headed your way!

Sounds good. Maybe breakfast or lunch at The Cypress Nook on McNab?

Two odd bits about those tracks:
1) WATCH OUT PEI!! Most of the tracks are going right through Prince Edward Island. Go figure!!
2) I can't recall ever hearing of a hurricane hit through Labrador. :twitch:
3) Will Earl(Jam) make it up to Greenland? It very well might. I hear tell that Earl(Jam) is attracted to land masses with tapered ends. ;)

What does the yellow line mean? Not in terms of a potential track. It that a particular organization's prediction?

Each line represents a different computer systems simulated path according to advancing weather.

Thanks, CB&B!

As the yellow is so far off all the other models, it doesn't seem likely Earl will follow that path. Course who knows what ole Earl is thinkin'.

If it were to follow the yellow line, that would put me on the eastern side, and there is no way my trailer survives that..especially since it's nestled up to a pine forest. I think we'll have a better feel tomorrow, and I'll decide by Thursday whether I'm sticking around or not. They are talking about mandatory evacuation for Ocracoke..not surprising since the potential is there for it the island to be washed over.

The NGFDL would be a combination of the GFDL model and the NOGAPS model. Here's some light reading!
