Would LOVE to get similar results on cholesterol, but I sense I will still be on the medication that our resident cardio-man alluded to in his response to my post in the Ted Drewe's thread. :(
That is phenomenal! Congrats!
Probably three things lowered it from the 125/92 normal in Atlanta:
1) Less stress and commuting since moving to Kentucky;
2) Lots of exercise in Madagascar and even at home now (of course, I dislike the exercise of moderating);
3) Zocor might be lowering slightly my Blood Pressure.
When I first read your results I was assuming the exercise/weight los in Madagascar was a big help with the blood pressure. I wouldn't be surprised if it helps with your cholesterol as well. Some cholesterol problems are genetic, but I've always heard that blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, etc. all fall into place when you're in you ideal weight range. I'm sure our resident cardiologist can offer more insight here. I'm not a real doctor, nor do I play one on TV. :D

Less stress is helpful as well, and I can identify with decreased stress with less of a commute. I really don't miss my old commute. Nothing like having a 0.5 mile walk to the train station and a 5 min train ride as a commute to work. A 30 min walk across the park is nice too - that's the alternative to the 0.5 mile walk/5 min train ride.
Most people say that is it is the intellect which makes a great scientist. They are wrong: it is character.

The weight loss should have helped a lot but I have not read any studies correlating zocor and BP lowering, though the pleiotropic effects of the "statin" drugs are becoming more widely discussed/known/researched.

I was okay until the camera got the close-up. Kelly and I were not impressed and she commented that they need to give the guy some space. I concurred.

According to my kid's FB posting, ExLax is going to the Lady Gaga concert without either of my kids.

After applying for a bunch of positions and being repeatedly told that I am overqualified (in my opinion that attitude is extremely short-sighted), I just got a call to interview for a Learning Strategist position (helping undergrads with study, research, and writing skills) this Thursday at the university at which I did my M.A. It is only a part-time position (four full-time days per week) but it would be a foot in the door and the position starts at $30/hr so the salary is decent for a part-time position. They wanted someone with a degree in education, psych, etc. but I guess my M.A. in History combined with my university teaching experience looked good to them so I hope the interview goes well. Please keep your fingers crossed for me folks

Crossing fingers and toes. Like you said...foot in the door..and $30/hr? Hell, I'd work part time for that and still make more than I do now. Best of luck!! :wizard: :wizard:
