Ymmm ... Ted Drewe's

To reward myself for successfully writing a VBA Excel macro, I treated myself to a trip to Ted Drewe's after taking a trip to the MoBot. Was standing in line, trying to make a decision on what to buy, when I saw a new offering listed on the window: orange top (vanilla custard topped with orange slush). Since I'm a huge fan of this particular combo, I decided to give it a shot. It's normally offered as a sundae; I asked them to mix it up. The concoction that I received was pale orange in color. There were ice crystals throughout from the slush; the mixture lacked its usual creamy consistency. Flavor was more vanilla than orange, but it definitely wasn't as rich as normal. It was tasty, but I think I would've liked it better with a smidge more orange slush. Not the best offering from Ted Drewe's, but it hit the spot on a hot summer day.

No, only the orange, and it's new since my last visit. They already offer orange slushes, but why anyone would get that in place of a concrete is beyond me.

I forgot about this thread - unforgivable! I would be horribly remiss if I didn't wax poetic about the current seasonal offering, The Great Pumpkin. Pumpkin pie, blended with vanilla custard, topped with whipped cream. The pie crust is still crispy. It tastes more pumpkiny than vanilla custard-y. Incredible.

I think I need to get a Great Pumpkin concrete today in honor of my last official day of vacation.

As a reward for working today (had to go in and restart instruments due to a big power outage), I went to Ted Drewe's. Today's choice was The Big Apple: vanilla custard blended with apple pie, topped with whipped cream. Although it was quite tasty, I really prefer The Great Pumpkin.

Today was a gorgeous day, so I made a pilgrimage to Ted Drewe's. I got a different concoction this time: the Fox Treat, which consists of vanilla custard mixed with raspberries, macadamia nuts, and hot fudge. It was pretty good, but not as good as my favorite. Unfortunately the pumpkin pie concrete is seasonal and is only available in the fall.

I indulged in a bit of Ted Drewe's therapy today. The concoction of choice today: the Dottie (vanilla frozen custard with mint, chocolate, and macadamia nuts). Yum!
