It's Time to Play: "Name....That...Product!"
Okay folks! Calm down. Calm DOWN!
The end of July is nigh, and we ALLLLLL know that the period between July 29 to the first day of football season means it's "Name That......" game series! This week, we focus on an oldie but goodie: NAME THAT PRODUCT!
Here's how it works. Listing one or more ingrediants from ANY product lable, challenge posters to figure out what the product is. Hints may be given after a handfull (call it five, twenty, etc.) of guesses, but all hints are restricted to content on the nutrition or ingrediants label. The product does NOT have to be a food. It can be anything at all, so long as it has a label to extract info.
So with that, I shall introduce the first product. NO CHEATING ALLOWED! NO GOOGLING!
Product #1:
15 percent of THIS product is Aluminum Zirconium Tetrachlorohydrex!
Guess away!

I think colchar nailed it.
Though you won't find that in my antiperspirants.

Now it's time for everyone to USE That Product!
I stood in the grocery store check out line this afternoon behind a guy who hadn't bathed or used deodorant in about 2 years.
Pee-eww!

Aluminum Zirconium Tetrachlorohydrex won't do anything to cover up bad body odor. It's anti-persperiant, it acts by closing pores and preventing body sweat from escaping your body. I don't like things to close my pores.

Deodorant soap (preferably white Safeguard) and a good antiperspirant (unscented Sure) are wondrous inventions. I don't know why more people don't use them. Especially people who go to the grocery store where these items are offered for sale.

Re: It's Time to Play: "Name....That...Product!"
Let me revise my post then: Aluminum Zirconium Tetrachlorohydrex will do nothing to cover up or prevent body odor. It is an antiperspirant, it prevents perspiration not odors. For the record, deodorants do not and can not prevent body odor, they mask it with perfumes.CathyCA wrote:I'm not talking about covering up body odor, I'm talking about prevention.Miles wrote:Aluminum Zirconium Tetrachlorohydrex won't do anything to cover up bad body odor. And THAT would be the secret to my Madagascar diet. EXACTLY! So why do people buy deodorant rather than antiperspirants? You can't mask the stench of B.O. You can prevent it by using an antiperspirant.Miles wrote:Let me revise my post then: Aluminum Zirconium Tetrachlorohydrex will do nothing to cover up or prevent body odor. Why do people not use antiperspirants daily?

I find that if you shower (or bathe) regularly - every day or after any kind of strenuous activity - then antiperspirant isn't needed. I only use deodorant but I can assure you that I have no body odour issues as I am always clean. I had insomnia the night before last so I slept until almost noon today (didn't get to sleep until almost 3am last night which sucked after the experience of the night before when I got less than two hours sleep) so I haven't showered yet today but there are still no body odour issues. Trust me, I just checked. I shower at least once a day, usually more, so there is never an opportunity for any odour to develop and set in.

Re: It's Time to Play: "Name....That...Product!"
Actually, most deodorants contain antibacterial agents--usually alcohol, but sometimes triclosan or others--in addition to scents, since it's the bacteria rather than the sweat itself that's stinky. Antiperspirants obviously will make this more effective, but many people are sensitive to those; for years, I could only use deodorants because my pits would break out in a rash if I used antiperspirant, and I wasn't stinky, just sweaty.

If you are going to be around me, you are going to use a deodorant soap daily and use an antiperspirant daily.colchar wrote:CathyCA wrote:

Also, you cannot tell from your own sniff test if you smell bad because you are used to your own scent. You know the old saying about how people think their own ***** doesn't stink? Same thing for B.O.
The stinky offender is usually the last to know.
