She occasionally includes Kroger in her blog. She mostly shops at Harris Teeter. Even though HT has higher prices for some things than Kroger, HT doubles coupons up to a dollar every day (Kroger only doubles up to 50 cents) and HT also frequently has "super-doubles" (coupons double up to $1.98) and triple coupons, she ends up saving much more than she could just going to Kroger.

Some where, really deep in the threads, I'm sure we have a thread of this sort. I looked, but don't have the patients to find it and cannot remember the name. What can I say?

I bought a great wrot iron floor lamp today, with the shade. It looks like new. It has stems with leaves. I love it!! I got it at the Good Will store in Hillsborough. The cost was 7.98. I did good.

I've been scaling down the portions of food, in part to be healthier but mostly to cut back on costs. We eat mostly local or regional meat, which gets a bit pricey after a while. When it comes to beef, I've started buying one thick cut NY Strip and trimming it into two pieces. We end up with two gorgeously marbled steaks that look like filets (except for the marbling) and use or freeze the scraps to make beef stock.

In my house remodeling pursuits, I will be involved with the replacement of the flooring on my south and east exposure, wrap-around front porch. In nearly 25 years time, this will be the third such replacement. That's it! No more, damnit!

A local sawmiller has offered me cypress, milled to smooth surface with toungue-and-goove cut for $3.50/sq ft. I are glad to get this deal on a material that will feel good, wear good and probably outlive me.

Terrific! My MIL (the first time around) bought me one as a wedding present, and Oedipus couldn't bear to part with it cuz it came from his mama, so I lost it in the divorce. I miss it. (not Oedipus, though)
