Happy Birthday Canada!!!
It is Canada Day today and, although it won't be nearly as much fan as the Canada Day I spent in London England two years ago, it will still be an enjoyable day as I'll spend it with family and will be parked in front of the TV watching all the signings from the first day of free agency in the NHL
Happy 143rd birthday Canada!!! And yes, there are 143 Canadian flags below!

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
Happy Canada Day!

CANADIAN FOOTBALL SEASON!!
Damned straight! The CFL season starts tonight (both games are out west so there are no afternoon games today) and I cannot freakin' wait.

Probably but I can't think of any off the top of my head.
I read today that the CFL had reached an agreement with the NFL network for them to broadcast 10-15 CFL games this season. I thought they were supposed to be starting with today's season openers but I just checked and the NFL network isn't showing the game that is on now. They might show the game that is on later tonight. But they are definitely showing games this year so you can catch them when they are on. Personally, I far prefer the CFL to the NFL as I find it a much more interesting and wide open game.

ETA: It seems they are broadcasting the Montreal vs. Saskatchewan game tonight (it started at 7pm) but I am not sure if they will broadcast tonight's other game. I guess I can't see it because the NFL network won't show Canadian games here in Canada because Canadian networks have broadcast rights.
Here is a quick blurb about it:
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/sports_ ... o-cfl.html
ETA:
I just checked and there are no former Duke players on any of the opening day rosters in the CFL. That might change throughout the season though if players are injured or released. There are plenty of former ACC players in the league though.

Technically, all but two of the Canadians are back home now. Just the two grad students remain here far east of the border.DukieInKansas wrote:Ditto! Happy Canada Day to all our friends north of the border, and Lavabe's friends far east of the border.
I hear tell that if colchar wins the CTN NASCAR fantasy league, Canada will be getting a Sprint Cup race ... and NOT in rainy Montreal. ;)

I'm sure we can upgrade MOSPORT or somewhere similar to accommodate that.
