The real key points are...
1) Make sure the electrical box is firmly attached to ceiling joists
2) Make certain the box is level.
3) Make certain the fan motor is firmly attached to the box.
4) Be sure that no wires are touching anything that vibration during use will create a 'wear spot' on their insulations.

Good luck with your installation! The OP and I have made it nearly to our 50th anniversary mainly because we've avoided collaboration on such projects. (We learned early not to hang wallpaper together, for instance.)

Sorry that I am responding so late. I just got in last night. So here is my experience with Hunter Ceiling Fans:

Back in Atlanta, the house we bought had them. The remotes were extremely unreliable, and replacing/fixing them was horrific and horrible. The previous owner put them in on the cheap from Home Depot. I would say that I would never EVER recommend the remote fans.

When they and the remotes worked, they were okay. If you go with the remote versions, have an electrician properly install them.

Otherwise, I wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole.

I concur with lavabe on the remote thingy. Usually the're lost. Then what? I do want to reiterate that the wall switch should have a dimmer on it so that you can easily adjust the speed from there.

My ceiling fan was installed this past Saturday. It doesn't produce as cool a breeze as the living room ceiling fan does, though that is a different brand. I think my bedroom is warmer than other rooms in the house. K68 thinks it's the back bedroom, which makes me wonder if there are insulation issues on that side of the house. Course that side of the house also gets the afternoon sun. I have blackout curtains in my room and will likely pick some up for the back bedroom.

Any thoughts out there in CTN land?

That room hasn't been painted, though I do still have the additive. I don't think that is the issue as the room wasn't that warm before Saturday. And, I can smell the attic ever so slightly.

I did check that to see if that was the issue and it doesn't seem to be.

I called my electrician and asked him to come over to sort of inspect the room and see what else can be done so that it isn't quite so warm. Course, we are about to enjoy some cooler days, but it will get hot again.

I bought a dehumidifier the other day and have a question. Should the dehumidifier be blowing warm air? While it does work and collects moisture from the air, it also blows warm air. Is that supposed to happen?
