Happy Fathers Day

Post by devildeac » June 20th, 2010, 7:24 am

What are you folks doing for Dad today?

For the Dads: What have the young'uns done for you today?

Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads.

Happy Fathers Day to all the Mothers, too. Y'all know why...

Hope all you dads have fun today. Shoot below par, catch a big fish, win in straight sets, run and not be weary, walk and not faint, etc, etc. May your hamburgers not burn on the grill and may your beer be icy cold!!!! And most of all, may you be smothered in hugs!

Happy Father's Day! As usual, I can't say it better than Ima did, so I'll just echo her sentiments. :D

The best gift that I could receive from my son is...nothing. I want him to keep as many of his Kronkites(dollars, whatever) as possible.

If not...I'l moidleize him. Nyuk, nyuk. :D

I sent my dad a basket of breakfast goodies from his favorite bakery. I'll call him later to wish him a Happy Father's Day.

Happy Father's Day to all the men of CTN. Hope you all have a great, relaxing day.

Thanks ladies! :D :9f:

I'm not playing golf today. As usual on Father's Day, I'll drive to Hilton Head Island and watch the US Open after I finish unloading the van. Since it's at Pebble Beach this year, the leaders will just be teeing off instead of finishing. Anyone betting against Tiger winning it after his round yesterday? I didn't think so. B-)

I'll call my dad from the road about lunchtime.

Lunch at the Golden Corral, hand off the gifts, listen to old jokes, lame jokes, and somewhat racial jokes, before he goes into his Jesus Speak before we adjourn for another year. Yep, same OLD same Old. lol

I know I know, some will say "Be happy you have a Father!". Well, sure and ok. But sometimes, I'd seriously like to upgrade my model!!!!

Ya got a regular Archie Bunker on your hands? C'mon there was even a softie in THAT one. Look for it today. It's there. It just needs cultivation. A therapist told me one time to take some time to carefully hunt all over his face......really, really look at him during a conversation and find that one feature you have always remembered and loved. It's still there. Just focus there as long as you can. Let me know what you settled on. His eyes, I bet.

I lost my Dad several years ago. I miss him every day, miss his love and his widsom, his dry sense of humor, and well, just everything.

Fathers Day is the only Sunday of the year I play hooky from church. I tried going last year and it was an unmitigated disaster. :((

Knights, my Mothers Days are about like your Fathers Days, except with a different restaurant. I love my mother, but I wouldn't call us close. Ima had great advice about this, and I'm going to try it next year on Mothers Day.

Anyway, I hope all the dads here have wonderful days and get to spend time with those they love.

Yes, you're right. I'm one of those who will say that.

I wish with all my heart that my dad was still here. Be thankful that yours is still around. It's hard to hug only a memory.

Walk. Church. Visit the gravesite. Chinese lunch buffet. Open presents for Fathers Day and late beerthday. Reduced size championship poster and FF tix. Framed. :D :D :D :D A championship coffee mug and 3 championship videos. Read. Nap. Consolidate/organize the beer cellar/garage. Fresh veggie dinner. Walk. Jefferson's Reserve Bourbon Barrel Stout. It was a fine Fathers Day including spending time with daughter #1, talking with son of devildeac and getting 2 emails from cheerleader daughter in Uganda. :ymhug:

The Green of His Eyes by Mike Cross is an awesome song/tribute by Mike to his dad that I can't listen to without getting weepy. It's a father-son song from an adult son's perspective (a reverse Cat's In the Cradle, if you will). The last couple lines are:

All I can say is if your Daddy's alive,
You ought to go and talk for a while.

Anyway, I called my green-eyed Dad and we talked for about a half hour yesterday. I hope to see him (and Mom) soon - plans are in the works.

As for my Father's Day, I got two shirts, two pair of short pants and a pair of boxer shorts for father's day - and hugs and a sentimental ol' time. So it was good.

Proud of my son. He spent next to nothing. Got a card sporting a chimp with googly eyes and a couple of cds he burned. Aside from grass farming duties, a good day. :)

I got my dad the dvd collection of Tom Selleck's Jesse Stone movies, based on Robert B. Parker's book series about an LA homicide detective with a drinking problem who takes a job as the police chief of a small New England town. I got him to watch the new one a few months ago, and he loved it so much, I decided to get him the rest. It was $45 for the first five movies on ebay. He's watched them all already, and he LOVES them. Now he's getting the novels from the library.
