For One Million Dollars, Would You Ignite Firecrackers Stuck Between All of Your Toes?

1. Yes, give me the firecrackers. Here are my toes!

2. NO! I value my toes too much and can do without the pain of third degree burns!

3. This deep question truely perplexes me, and I cannot bring myself to make a definitive choice at this time.

One million is a lot, even after taxes.
1. I'll buy a house and be rid of a mortgage payment.
2. I'll be debt free.

Add those two together and I'm increasing my disposable income well over 10x. That's a pretty significant raise and has huge longterm implications towards saving up for retirement, flying to Paris on a whim for Steak Tartare, helping the family out, funding mine and EJ's trip to 2012 Olympics, etc.
Word, WORD, and WOOOOORRRRRDDDD!!!

A million not a lot of money? Shit. $50k would turn my life around drastically. Still, I understand what Ozzie is saying. It's not like the "good old days" when terrorists make a demand for......."ONE MILLION DOLLARS!" If such a demand was made in the movies now, the audience would laugh (e.g. "Austin Powers").

But I must say that to state that One Million is not a lot of money. Well, golly. Just 5% of that is a ton of money to this broke-ass honkey!

P.S. Miles, I wonder how much we could get at the pawn shop for our toes of gold!?

Any amount of money would help get rid of lingering college loan debt and putting toward my mortgage. That is different from life-altering, quit your job and payoff your house and do whatever you want kind of money. I'm with Miles, that with $3-5 million I could do that. I could pay off everything and live completely off a very nominal rate of return from investing it and still live at or above my current standard of living.

If it were a million bucks free from taxes or levies or whatever else and free from any threats from such thereof, I would more seriously consider it than after taxes (which comes out to be between $300k and $600k depending on where you are at and who you are).
If I squeezed my toes together really hard as the firecrackers were to explode, I would get more burned than the li'l piggies blown apart. Is that not correct?

What the hell are hospital bills? Oh yeah, y'all don't have universal health care. Up here in Canada all it would cost would be the firecrackers and the lighter (and I already own a bunch of those!). Any subsequent hospital bills have already been paid for through my taxes so a hospital visit wouldn't cost me a dime except for parking.
Of course, it would take them two months to get to you. ;)
