Hunter Ceiling Fans

I need some input from my peeps.

I need a ceiling fan in my bedroom, remember I mentioned a while back I've gotten hotter as I've aged. I really need to contain this hotness and am considering buying a Hunter 44" 5-minute fan (you can install it in 5 minutes), see the link.

I've read mixed reviews about this fan. On the Home Depot website people complain about the chain for the fan and the brightness, or lack of, from the lamp. But when I google the fan, I find many more positive reviews.

As I want to install a fan once, I wanted to check to see if anyone here has any experience with Hunter fans, this one in particular, to find out what your experience has been like.

Hunter is a good name and you should be fine with it. Of course, their 5 minute video is suspect in several regards - first she says it doesn't include the time to install the top electrical part (that could take hours and you might need an electrician to do the wiring). Second, there are time lapses on what she does - and they don't show the guys she has helping her lift the heavy parts to the mounting bracket - I doubt she did that herself. Plus, she's got that pole next to the motor. I don't think the fan will rotate until that is removed ;) Of course, as hot as you now are, you might want to leave the pole in place too! I joined consumerreports.org so I could find a good quality ceiling fan, and can't find any info. How did you look up Hunter on that website?

That means nothing as consumer reports doesn't even have a ceiling fan category. There is no joy or sorrow.

Ok, let's back up. I went to consumer reports to find some info on ceiling fans and Hunter specifically.
I too discovered no category for ceiling fans.
So I reported back "No joy", which is also another way for saying "negative".

I think I figured it out. You were thinking that I was saying Consumer Reports had negative reviews, kinda like "Hunter fans suck". I was just saying they didn't have anything at all.

My current home has a ceiling fan in the master bedroom. It's a delightful addition which can make the room so pleasant. When I was looking for houses before buying this one, I saw some ceiling fans that weren't as securely installed as this one appears to be..... definitely an important aspect of installation!

We have ceiling fans in all bedrooms and the screened porches at home and at the lake. Got most of 'em at University Lights but a couple are Hunters from Lowe's Can't tell much difference in any of them. I would never recommend you install them yourself, though. One thing we did that I really like is install wall switches for them with those sliders that can regulate the speeds for the blades. The other thing.....maybe it's just me.....but I don't like a ceiling light in the center of a room anyway (they don't put out a friendly, cozy light) so I just saved the money and skipped that part.

I've installed fans in every room of my home, plus there's one I put out under the pergola atop the backyard deck.

Hunter has the 'mojo seal of approval' above all others. I don't give points for 'ease of installation' to any make.
