The eyes DO tell...

Who was it that said, "The eyes are the windows to the soul" or something like that? Years ago, I read the book "Blink," and the writer spoke much to this. It is so true. You may be able to fool people with words or fake emotions, but unless you are a sociopath, your eyes will betray you all the time. In fact, now that I think about it, "Blink" was the perfect title to that book because it only takes an instant for your eyes to involuntarily do something that gives you away. AND, there are so many ways for it to happen.

From the very obvious (rolling the eyes), to the sublime (a microscopic squint), they speak volumes. Then, there is the inexplicable. When someone is completely lucid and confident, you can see it in the eyes. You can't describe it, but you can "see" it. It's there. Same with someone who is hurting. They can wear a happy face and smile but you can still see it in the eyes. What is that?

Perhaps someone can help here. In the book "Blink," it mentions the incredible number of muscles and microscopic movements the face and the area around the eyes can make. It's been a while, so I don't remember the exact number. Any experts in the house on this matter?

Anyway, I just find it very interesting because usually a person thinks the other person can't notice.....but they can. Example: You have a zit on the forehead. You walk up to someone and say hello. In an instant, they look at the zit and then in a millisecond look you in the eyes and play it off like you didn't see them notice. Happens all the time.

Nope. She's just starting to discover her hands and that they can grab things. Like chest hairs. In this case, she's just practicing and strengthening her grip!
