I've called it Dad's View, but I also could call it "View From 9F". One day I'll scan that ticket.

The painting is great. But, I'm having a hard time placing the location of the floor as the view doesn't look right. Did you take liberties with the painting or did you paint exactly what was in the picture?CameronBornAndBred wrote:I'm taking it off of my board for a few days, I've got to think about this one. It's a true view. I'll post a photo from the seat later when I get home.TillyGalore wrote:The painting is great. Tilly, I thought the same thing at first, then I realized that the basket is off to the right out of the picture, rather than my original thought, to the left. When you realize Kyle has blown by the Wear twin toward the basket, instead of thinking Wear is between Kyle and the basket, the angle makes perfect sense. (And let's face it: me with my 40+ year old knees would stand as good a chance at keeping Kyle from the rim as either of the Wears. )

Re: Newest painting
One visual clue about the location is the Duke team bench in the background. That clue suggests that the basket is to the right and that this play was in the second half of the game.
Clues or no clues, I love this painting. It captures the essence of the moment in a game played by a team near and dear to our hearts.

I thought the same thing at first--that the basket was off to the left. The stack of towels above Chris Collins' head created a line that looked like the bottom of the basket, and it appeared that Kyle was looking to the left toward the basket to lay the ball in.The painting is great. But, I'm having a hard time placing the location of the floor as the view doesn't look right. Did you take liberties with the painting or did you paint exactly what was in the picture?
Then I realized that Duke sits on the right side of the gym as you face the teams, and that my first impression was wrong.
Did I mention that I love this painting?

Thanks for the clues, ladies. I now understand the angle of the picture and it makes a heck of a lot more sense now that it did earlier.

This is the same view, different scene. Kyle is pretty much in the same spot in both.lawgrad91 wrote:

Ok...it's finished..if I do much more to it I'll overpaint it. I muted out the background to give more definition to the action on the court.

Damn. Awesome. Love the muted background to draw focus to the action.CameronBornAndBred wrote:Ok...it's finished..if I do much more to it I'll overpaint it. I muted out the background to give more definition to the action on the court.
Does anyone affiliated with Duke sports know you are doing these? I'm sure they would be very interested. I KNOW the Singler family would LOVE this.

Late to the party here but want to get my 2 cents in, CB&B. It's another winner.....naturally! Others' comments have shown also that you have a discerning bunch of groupies! they notice the background vs the foreground and even the reflections on the floor.
Are you planning a display in the brunch gate tent? The one of the Omegas could be a feature. Bet you sell some prints of that right away.
Sure wish they'd let you near the bench during football games to get some up close and personal stuff ... you know, some true grit and sweat. Wouldn't that be cool? Meaningful stuff that shows what the guys go through.
What are the dimensions of this one of Kyle?
I'm learning lots from you. Love, Ima
