Okay, I played a long tennis match Sunday morning. I've had a few injuries in my day, so I usually know when I've shonked something serious. But, although it was a tough match, I felt nothing pop, snap, or tear."
That said, as I was shifting weight from left foot to right getting into my car this morning, I got a sharp pain under my right kneecap. Since then, It's been a dull pain every time I put a lot of weight or stress on it. If I'm just resting it, it's fine.
If I had to draw an "X" on exactly where the pain is, it's at the upper part of the kneecap, where the quad meets the knee, and it's definitely underneath the kneecap. The pain is fairly significant when pressure is applied.
Anyone with medical smartatiousness know what this might be? Was something just strained?

But, on a serious note, it's probably a strain or perhaps some patellar bursitis. Could be a minor tear of a tendon. Rest, ice, compression, elevate and a couple advil 3 times a day would help. In 3-5 days, if the pain is not gone, then I'd amputate.
