Re: 2011 Commit - Tyler Adams
Not sure if we'll get him or not. As it stands, if no one leaves early we'll have:bjornolf wrote:What are the chances we get the third Plumlee brother?
T. Thornton
K. Irving
S. Curry
A. Dawkins
C. Felix
M. Plumlee
M. Plumlee
J. Hairston
R. Kelly
2 signed recruits: M. Gbinjie, T. Adams
So we'll have 2 open scholarships. One will be held for Rivers. The other will go to either Quincy Miller, Amir Williams, MP3 or some other as of yet unidentified target. Sounds like MP3 may end up at Wisconsin right now, but there is still plenty of time. Especially if we lose a few guys to early entry next year.

I guess my question was really: Are we interested in him? Is HE interested in us?Jesus_hurley wrote:Not sure if we'll get him or not. As it stands, if no one leaves early we'll have:bjornolf wrote:What are the chances we get the third Plumlee brother?

Re: 2011 Commit - Tyler Adams
Early on there was heavy interest from both camps, but I think interest from both sides has dropped some. Right now it looks like he'll end up playing at Wisconsin, but I'm pretty sure he still has a commit-able offer from Duke. Last interview I saw with him he came right out and said the staff doesn't call as much as they used too, but we were also in the middle of post-season play so I'm not sure how telling that really is. If we don't have any early entries he wouldn't see much time till his Sophomore year at the earliest which may play a part in his decision as well.bjornolf wrote: I guess my question was really: Are we interested in him? So, to answer the question, I have no idea....

Another one of those "silent verbals?"duketaylor wrote:Actually, he's the third to commit, the other simply hasn't made it official, see AR;)
hrrsnbrns also gave one of those too from what I heard and we see where he signed.
Honestly though, they can have him. I'll take Kyle, the senior .

From the Charlotte Observer:
Junior center commits to Duke
Duke, which is losing 7-foot-1 banger Brian Zoubek off its 2010 NCAA championship team, has added to its low-post presence with a commitment from 6-9 junior Tyler Adams of Brandon High in Mississippi.
Adams, who was visited last week at his high school by Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski, weighs 245 pounds and plays exclusively in the lane.
Tyler is a very skilled young man, especially in the low post,” said Larry Stamps, who coaches Adams with the Jackson Panthers club team. “He definitely is a low-post center, which is unusual now because a lot of the big kids like to face up. He likes to play down low and has the body to do it.”
Rivals.com ranks Adams as the No. 81 player in the Class of 2011. Adams is Duke’s second commitment in the class, joining 6-6 small forward Michael Gbinije of Richmond, Va.

Re: 2011 Commit - Tyler Adams
And that's such a relief. In the second half of the season Zoubs showed how valuable a guy who grabs rebounds and owns the post can be.pinkbend wrote:From the Charlotte Observer:

Interview after his commitment
HSH: What about you, were you a Duke fan growing up?
TA: You know what… I don’t think I’ve said this before, but I actually hated Duke growing up.
HSH: Now THAT is interesting.
TA: Yeah, I know.
HSH: So what didn’t you like about the Blue Devils?
TA: I guess it’s because they always won. It’s like the Lakers and the Yankees, you always hate the team that always wins. It’s kind of crazy now that I think about it. Then I got to know the coaches and got close to them and now I’m a big fan!
HSH: So now the hater is the hated. How’s that going to be?
TA: Should be fun. I’m used to that anyway so I’ll fit right in.

Plus, next season, he'll get to work with that short guy who can't coach big men?Jesus_hurley wrote:Interview after his commitment
