Our Pets

Post by Very Duke Blue » April 8th, 2010, 8:41 pm

We have Harley. He's 15 mo. a black lab, 85 lbs. We adore him. He fills our lives to the brim.

Our son, Jake, girlfriend, Amy, has Katie. She's a wonderful spaniel mix, a great dog. Harley and Katie had a big 2 days here. Unfortunately, Katie has hip displacer (sp ?). Katie was really sore from playing so much with Harley yesterday. Amy didn't bring her meds. I goggled aspirin for dogs. It would be ok to give her one but the site also showed Melocoxicam, generic for Mobic, was highly recommended. I am on Melocoxicam. We gave Katie one. This morning, she felt great. Amy is going to see if her vet will order some for Katie. It will be so much cheaper then the med she is on now for arthritics.

I like the idea of "our pet people" sharing ideas for their care, stories and general information. If anyone else is interested. Lets post. :O3

Just checking. ;) ;) :D :D

Yesterday morning, Marvin and I missed Vesper's signs that she needed to go potty. I usually take her out before I leave. About 30 mins before our usual outside adventure, I'm in the bathroom washing my hands after cleaning the litter boxes, when Vesper walks in squats and start peeing. I ran for towels to wipe things up and thought, crap we missed the signs. Then, thought what a smart doggie to go potty in the bathroom where the floor is ceramic tile, and not on my hardwood floors. We didn't scold her, just brought her in and said "no, no, no". Didn't feel it was right scolding her when we didn't do what we were supposed to do.

I love our little doggie. :)

Pets??? Did someone say pets?

I love my 'boys'....
Dylan...the now 11 year old standard poodle and (retired) agility dog extraordinaire...smarter than your honor student I guarantee it! Fierce defender of home and family…don’t let the poodle name fool you…if anyone broke in to my house it is Dylan who would shred them into a thousand pieces . Dylan doesn’t compete anymore…but does come out of retirement for agility demonstrations. He can usually be found in the corner of the sofa or stretched out on a bed, human style…head on pillow.

Wizard...Terv Terrific...Belgian Tervuren as biddable and devoted a dog as you will ever find. As with any good herding breed, he lives to serve. He also is a squirrel hunter of great skill. He would run through the fires of hell if I asked him to. Wizard plays at agility, obedience and freestyle. Wizard is almost always at my feet, or by my side

Jester…yellow lab…my hunk-o hunk-o labby love. 94 lbs of love and Joie de Vie. Always happy, always laughing…Jester plays at dock diving, retrieving and agility. He’s a lover not a fighter..and believes to the core of his being that everyone needs a big ol’ labby kiss every day. He also firmly believes that he is a lap dog and that some part of him must be touching mommy at all times.

I love dogs but have been "dog free" since the mid/late 90's. My daughter had a pair of parakeets from middle school until they died when she was in college. When I need a "dog fix", I go to someone's house who has one. As y'all know, I'm allergic to cats.

Your puppys sound wonderful. Dogs, what would this world be without them? I love dogs. :ymhug:

I like other people's pets.

I'm done with having them in my house. Naturally, since I don't have any pets, my youngest kid has decided that he wants to be a veterinarian so that he can be around animals all the time.

Georgia the Wonderdog: Our Australian shepherd... she is always playing with me, seeks ILJ for comfort, and is Legacy Lady's sounding board whenever something upsets LL.

Yeah... she's a pile of love (when she isn't stealing pizza).

A girl needs a dog to tell her troubles too - I grew up (only child) with a Sheltie and he knew all my secrets and shared all my sorrows. Damn, I loved that dog...and I still miss him.

I had 5 cats and 1 dog! My two male cats died due to kidney failure.... the girls lasted longer! I loved them to death, but after their peril.... I haven't gotten any other pets as there have been opportunities and I miss my lil babies, but .... I am not ready for more, although my kids would love them at Daddies house! Just doesn't work, when Daddy has travel or wants to go to NC for the weekend! ;)

It does hurt when they are gone. I'm happy we got Harley after Jack died. I didn't feel ready. Bud pushed getting another pup. As it turned out, it was a good decision. :O3

Meet Rider. Rider is our Black Tri Australian shepherd. Simply put: he is awesome. He likes to give high fives, spin around on his hind legs, herd cats, shnarf on kongs, is wonderfully obedient, and lives to please.

Meet Soleil. Soleil is our mutt. She specializes in cuddling and also likes to give high fives, shake, roll over, and fetch her ball. She's not sure what to make of the cats, but for the most part she just ignores them and lets them be on their way.

This is my cat Stupid Cat. In this picture he is dead. The next day he came back to life and bit me.

I left him at home this weekend while I went to Virginia. He showed me how much he missed me by curling up at my feet and biting me. Twice. Then I threw him back outside.

I'm curious about Katie's prescription that was so expensive. Was it Rimadyl?

This is a cry for help. Your cat has an unreasonable desire to learn to fly. A few sweeping swings around your head, whilst maintaining a firm grip of the cat's tail, then...release the tail while said feline is facing any direction and voila.
One flying cat.
