I have had several non Duke friends congratulate me. Haven't heard anything from carolina friends I haven't run into yet...

Yesterday I went to Costco in Raleigh while wearing my newly purchased blue Duke Championship t-shirt. I had several of their employees come up to me and give me high-fives - obviously Duke fans! Also a couple of other customers! Felt really good!

I've had two -one was the neighbor whose wife (a Dukie) began labor at 9:00 Monday evening and didn't go to the hospital until "One Shining Moment" was over. It was a sincere congratulations and we discussed specific plays and players. He's a good guy. The other was another neighbor in a house divided (State and Carolina). She is very uncomfortable at night when her husband is not home. Monday night he was away and she woke up to hear shouting in the distance; she was trying to figure out what was going on (the noise kept coming from different directions) when she heard me come out onto the front porch and start yelling. She said then she realized that Duke must have won and, feeling more comfortable, went back to sleep. She thanked me for easing her mind and congratulated Duke on the win.

I did see a car this morning flying unc flags. My husband asked if I thought that was pride for 2nd place NIT...

1.5, maybe 2? Kelly jumped up and gave me the biggest hug right after the final shot. My mom, attended Carolina, but she always pulls for Duke unless it's head-to-head. So I'm not sure if she really counts as that kind of Heels.

One of the most intense carolina fans I know called me maybe thirty seconds after the game ended to congratulate me. I guarantee no one else in his family would have even thought to do that. It's carolina fans like those that I can bear.

Four. All four have been GRADUATES of UNC. My experience has been that those who actually attended class and graduated are far more knowledgeable and gracious in their fandom than UNC's band wagoneers.

The UNC graduates are two guys I practice with, and two guys who were in my high school class.

The most obnoxious UNC fans are those who never lived in the dorms or attended class at UNC.
