He has ordered a new cover for that. Not the end. On the right side of the monitor, a shady line, about 1 2/3 inches showed up after he rebooted. I'm getting a new monitor. I'm happy. :)

I never call Dell support. They have a technical support chat - easier to deal with them that way.

I agree with that. I've made more progress with them on chat than on the phone. And they can't type with an Indian accent.

Remember our discussion about hanging up on people? One of the few people I've hung up on was a Dell tech support person. I went through the list of things I had already tried in order to fix my computer problem, and the non English speaking tech support person started through the list of things I needed to do, starting with things I had already done. She couldn't actually tell me anything to do that I hadn't already tried, so I finally just said something about figuring it out myself and hung up. Not nice, maybe, but I don't like to waste my time with someone who repeatedly tells me to do something when I've already said that I tried it and it didn't work.

In summary, I agree with all of the complaints about Dell tech support.

I have heard for years that if you buy Dell, buy the business models and not the "home" models, because your support it US based and much better. They care a lot more about keeping the business users happy the home users - they are far bigger customers, even if your business only buys one computer (for now).
