The new job/new office just happens to be 1 mile from house rather than traveling 35 miles 1 way in 1-2 hour traffic.

That's most excellent! You're effectively getting a raise, you know. Look at all the gas money you'll be saving. You could bike to work - or walk.

I have a shorter commute now, too (as compared to when I lived in AR). I live just over a mile from work now; my daily commute is a 1/2 mile walk to the train station and a 5 min train ride. Beats the heck out of fighting traffic, and I save at least $100/month in gas money.

Funny you say that... .I just said the same thing to my #1 Gal, about an hour ago... damn, $60 bucks to fill up, I haven't seen that in a long while, guess gas prices are starting to go up! ;)
