Fun with Mashed Potatoes

Post by EarlJam » March 8th, 2010, 2:33 pm

Two part question: 1) Do you enjoy eating mashed potatoes? 2) When was the last time you used an eating utensil to mold your mashed potatoes in to some kind of fun shape before eating them?

I DO still enjoy eating mashed potatoes, but I have not made a shape out of them in years. I used to mold them into the shape of the United States. Well, only a few times. Man. Whew. The movie, "The informant" sucks. Don't rent it.

My right knee hurts.

Sympathy pains for Bud? :)) :))

When I was a kid, I used to "make" a volcano by putting the gravy in the middle and cover the hole with more potatoes.....and then SMASH. My mother was not happy. Sometimes it was a real mess. :D It was fun. :)

You mean like in Close Encounters of the Third Kind? Never done that. I had mashed potatoes with the meatloaf I had for lunch today. Ate them, didn't play with them :D

Hope your knee feels better. Did someone "accidentally" kick you in the knee? :))

I like real mashed potatoes. Not the instant kind.

I did exactly the same thing. I would also drop poor, innocent peas into the searing hot gravy/lava.
But really, when it comes to fun with mashed potatoes, there's only one proper way to do it. You have to sculpt them into the shape of Devil's Tower, the way Richard Dreyfuss did in Close Encounters of the Third Kind. :ymalien:

Mashed potatoes are awesome, as is any vehicle for gravy or butter.

At Thanksgiving I have a little turkey and lots of mashed potatoes. I sometimes make them for dinner - nothing else, just mashed potatoes.

We watched Close Encounters this past weekend :)
