Be careful. There may not be a competitive balance in men's hockey too. ;)

And here I was at home, working in front of the tube, and re-watching the Tulsa game.

Should I switch to hockey?

Now that I look back at the first post in this thread, I'm thinking that the answers to these questions are:

YES and YES.

What was up with Finn goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff today? 4 goals in the first 7 shots.

However, AFTER the game:
http://sports.espn.go.com/olympics/wint ... id=4947716

It's probably not the wisest thing to do to bother the folks who are weighing whether or not to continue the sport in future Olympics.

I think the whole thing is ridiculous. So they had a couple of drinks on the ice after the game, who cares?!? The fans had left the building and the person who spoke out about the party was a reporter. Did that reporter not have better things to worry about? They've just won Olympic gold, some of them for the first time and some for the last time, and they had a couple of drinks on the ice (like tens of thousands of other Canadian hockey players have done in the past and will do in the future while celebrating a championship). Seriously, who gives a shit?

On another note, I had forgotten to mention previously in this thread that one of my younger brother's best friend's sister is on the Canadian team. Congrats to her.
I thought what they did was fun, and entirely appropriate! All the spectators had left the building. The only lapse of judgment was allowing the photographer to snap the picture.

Can't you imagine wanting to pop the cork on a champagne bottle and celebrate at center court of the Dean Dome after annihilating the Tarholes?

But what were your answers to those questions earlier in the thread ;)

And yes, I know I can read through for your answers but the Canada vs Slovakia game just came on so I've got other priorities right now.

Yeah, that isn't typical of him but I guess everyone has a bad game now and then.

Apolo Ohno has to dodge a crash in both the quarters and semis of the 500m short track. Finals race is coming up shortly. It's a mad sport.

2-0? Oh. I thought it was 4-0, hence my last post. I need new glasses.

In any case, my money's on the Canadians.

Sunday should be interesting eh? If Canada plays like they did against the Slovaks it will be a good game that will likely come down to whoever has the hotter goalie. If Canada plays like they did against the Russians then no amount of heroics from Miller will be able to save the US as they will be overwhelmed by the Canadian juggernaut.

Unfortunately, I won't be online to chat back and forth with you Yanks during the game as I'm heading home to my parent's place tomorrow morning to do some shopping with my Mom and then I'll hang around there so that I can watch the gold medal game with my Dad on Sunday. When Canada last won Olympic gold in hockey the party here in my town was insane (I wasn't here but my younger brother was and he told me all about the thousands of people who were out partying in the streets). Although it would be cool to be around for the street party after the game, especially if I was drinking in a bar during the game, I think it would be way cooler to just hang out and watch it with my Dad.

You are forgetting one other important IF statement. If Canada plays like they did against the US, then no amount of heroics from Luongo will be able to save Canada as they will be overwhelmed AGAIN by the US juggernaut.

There... I think that covers all possible IF's.

Minor controversy in the gold 500m short track finals w/Ohno. They DQ'd him on the final turn when he put his hand on the third place Canadian, who then went crashing to the wall. That call was probably correct (although Ohno said he didn't push ;) ). But in the process, the judges didn't look at the 1st-place Canadian who, upon NBC TV replay, clearly put his hand on the 2nd place Korean, forcing the Korean down. No DQ there.

The judge in that race is Canadian.

Although Ohno mentioned the Canadian judge after the race, Ohno did also mention that he should have skated faster, so that the judging shouldn't have been an issue.

When I first watched the race, I felt Ohno should be DQ'd, but I wasn't watching the action between the Korean and the 1st place Canadian. Anyone else see it?

Although I don't believe the US is likely to win the men's hockey gold, it'll be interesting, and a gold is not outside of the realm of possibilities.

At least two other US-Canada gold-silver showdowns: Long-track men's team skate (the US upset the heavily-favored Dutch); and 4-man bobsled.
