Would you buy a Toyota?
Given all the issues of late with accelerator pedals and brakes, would you buy a Prius, Camry, or other major Toyota model? Would you buy one if some major promotion was offered to entice customers back to Toyota?
As usual, we are always looking out for a good deal on a new car.

Sure. They are fixing their problems and still have a great reputation. Every company has problems, but they have a great track record.

Re: Would you buy a Toyota?
I'd buy a Toyota in a Duke Blue heartbeat if price were no object. But I'd buy a comparable Hyundai (say a Sonata in place of a Camry) and probably save a few thousand dollars in the process.

Saw an ad in the newspaper today for 0% financing and $1K back on a buncha Toyota models. Course I also saw an ad for 0.9% financing on a buncha Hondas and I'd bet I can get you a better price.

I would not, but it has nothing to do with their quality. Just not a fan of their styling.

Re: Would you buy a Toyota?
I bought my first toyota back in 1992 and have always had very good luck with Toyota, reliable, dependable and practical and have never had any real issues with them. The more I hear about this gas pedal problem, the more I believe this issue contributed to my recent accident back in Nov. although my 2006 Camry was not in the recall window. I am just thankful that I wasn't a fatality as a result of the accident and pray for those and the families of those who might have been a casualty due to this issue. I almost bought another Camry after that accident, but eventually decided on a different route of which I've been very happy with. I am surprised that these issues have been around for a while and are just coming out....

I wouldn't buy a Toyota, but that's out of principle: ExLax drives a Prius, and I don't want to drive anything he likes.
Right now I'm not exactly thrilled with BMW, after spending more than 5 hours at Sale BMW for warranty repairs on the interior of the car on Saturday. I'm contemplating which automaker I'll patronize next. Attention, Automobile Dealers: If I'm going to spend royal amounts of money on your product, you had better treat me like a princess.
I'm also wondering when the NHTSA is going to require that if you stomp on the brake and accelerator at the same time, the brake will override the accelerator. It should be an easy fix. My brake pedal and accelerator are about an inch apart, and I stomped on both at the same time last year when I was rear-ended. Instead of stopping, my car went careening into a busy intersection. Luckily, I didn't hit anyone, and no one else hit me. It was scary.

Note to self: Don't ever go with another Toyota product! ;)CathyCA wrote:I wouldn't buy a Toyota, but that's out of principle: ExLax drives a Prius, and I don't want to drive anything he likes.

That actually makes a lot of sense and again it surprises me that these brilliant souls that keep raising the $'s for automobiles haven't thought of that!CathyCA wrote:I'm also wondering when the NHTSA is going to require that if you stomp on the brake and accelerator at the same time, the brake will override the accelerator. I would purchase a Toyota. Give me a car with a solid engine and transmission. I have faith that they will work out the other issues. If I were in the market for a truck, I would likely buy American.

I bought a Honda minivan today. It is a 2007 with 43,000 mi., leather interior, built in gps, 6 pack cd player, dvd player(which I could care less about), a camera for backing up and lots of other goodies. It has an unlimited age and milage warenty. I'm happy. When I called Bud & told him I bought it, he was happy. Harley will love the van. He's the reason I wanted a van. We needed more space when we travel with our , which is a lot. So many good hotels now are pet friendly.

Call me if you want to come to Raleigh and buy a Honda. You will be treated fairly well. I treat Mrs. DD like a princess but I could probably move you into the top 5 ;) .CathyCA wrote:I like your new car.cl15876 wrote:I bought my first toyota back in 1992 and have always had very good luck with Toyota, reliable, dependable and practical and have never had any real issues with them. Thank you. I'm not in the market for a vehicle right now, but I'm always contemplating the next one. Ya never know what might happen--wreck, theft, total engine failure--to cause the need for another car.devildeac wrote:Call me if you want to come to Raleigh and buy a Honda. My first car was a Toyota. I loved it. '88 Camry. I drove it at Duke. Since then, I've had a BMW and two Hondas. All of them have treated us well.
Some of my friends have Kias and Hyundais and have done nothing but complain about one thing or another with them.
