Some Good Kids Doing A Good Deed

Post by colchar » February 19th, 2010, 1:20 pm

The city where I currently live is basically a university and high tech town. Along with a ridiculous number of high tech companies there are two universities here, the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University, which are three blocks apart. I did my B.A. at Waterloo and my Master's at Laurier.

Today I came across a story about some kids from Laurier who are spending their Reading Week (Spring Break) down in Louisiana building a house for a family that it still struggling after Katrina. I know it is a small thing but I thought these kids deserved a bit of recognition for giving up their break to do something selfless (and at their own expense) that will make a huge difference in the lives of a family that desperately needs a helping hand. With Laurier being such a party school it is nice to see that some of its students haven't lost sight of the bigger picture.

Here is the link to the story.

That's cool...way more worthy than spending the break drunk in bikinis.
