Plus, there's gotta be a way to sneak a secret Blue Devils Trojan horse into the work. That would be awesome.Ima Facultiwyfe wrote:Are you kidding?! Take the money and run! That's a very high compliment, knowing the UNC fan likes your work so much he can't resist jumping ship to get a painting by a Devil!

Re: Art From the Heart Opening
I know a guy who turns pens (as in wood-turing on a lathe). This requires a brass tube which is inserted into a wooden blank. A UNC fan commissioned some work from said wood worker, and he etched on the brass tube "Go Duke" before inserting it into the blank. Whenever UNC fan picks up the pen to write, his hand is wrapped tightly around the words "Go Duke".wilson wrote:Plus, there's gotta be a way to sneak a secret Blue Devils Trojan horse into the work. I wonder if it says that on the brass tube in my pen made from the Cameron Floor?

Oh - and congratulations on the commissions. You should tell the unc fan that you charge extra for the strange shade of blue. (And sneak a small Duke emblem in the picture somewhere - being sure to sign the painting in the proper blue.)

Two out of three of my paintings won awards, and the third would have won, but it is against the rules. (You can only win an Award of Excellence and an Honorable Mention.) The judge wanted to award the football painting an AE as well as the girl's portrait, unfortunately it was the odd painting out. My tomato painting got the honorable mention.
Opening is this Friday, the show runs through the 28th.
That is freaking awesome - congrats!!!!!!!

Fuck it, take the commission from the UNC fan but just add something about Duke in your signature on the painting (I am assuming you sign them). Maybe put your grad year after your name or something.
ETA: I'm having a brain fart and now cannot remember whether you went to Duke or not. If not, my comment above makes no sense.
