I'm a big Bob Costas fans. I think he's one of the iconic sports voices of the past quarter century. His presence on any broadcast makes me more likely to watch. I do not believe he is an asshole.

I actually agree here. This post is the resulf of an Olympics conversation with a friend who said Costas "annoys" him. He's not a Costas hater though.wilson wrote:I'm a big Bob Costas fans. He uses a lot of hair color. At his age, he should be letting a little gray show through.
Other than that, he doesn't annoy me. He has a soothing voice.

I've never seen him be an asshole on tv, and I've never met him, so I have to say no. He has however, interviewed some serious assholes.

Re: Bob Costas. Is he an asshole?
I think he kind of has a thankless job as the Olympics host. Trying to make non-sports watchers interested at the same time as us hardcore types. Is it just me, or have they been covering more events that don't necessarily have any American possibilities this time around? (Or is it just that the Alpine Skiing postponements have let us watch lots of speedskaters and lugers?)

I've always seen him as calm and collected and very professional! I like Bob and don't think he is an a hole.

For the longest time, I don't know why, but I thought THIS Bob was named after Bob Costas:
Correct me if I'm wrong, DA, but my understanding now is that it was NOT named after Bob Costas.

Re: Bob Costas. Is he an asshole?
I don't have any problems with Costas, and generally enjoy his broadcast work, but I can see where some might find him annoying. I think there's a bit of an ego lurking behind his calm and analytical facade, especially when it comes to baseball. Every now and then I catch a whiff (never blatant and never verbalized) of "I'm so calm and analytical that if you disagree with me you're probably either biased or a moron."
"The idea is that you are better today than you were yesterday."
