Slamming Athletic Equipment...
...is funny.
As a tennis player, I am guilty of slamming my racquet in the past. In the moment, not funny (to me); but to the other person, and to me after the match, I have to laugh. Same with golf clubs.
I'm watching the Olympics now and some dude just had a bad run on the luge. I thought it would be funny as hell if after his run, he picked up his luge and slammed it on the ground in frustration. So I ask, what are other sports items you don't normally see "slammed," but would be funny? A skeet shooter? A bowling ball? A horse?

I have bent the shit out of more than one cheap racquetball racquet in my day. The good thing is, it's not that hard to flip it around and bend the shit out of it back in the other direction.EarlJam wrote:...is funny.

I'd hate to see a biathlete go ballistic. What would he slam? His skis? His ski poles? His rifle?
I don't want to be in the way of an angry biathlete.

Golf clubs. Some people think a "special" club will make them better golfers. They still might break them in half after a bad shot. Or really expensive bowling shoes makes a better bowler. Equipment of course can make a difference but the bottom line is: Either you've got it or you don't. I have spoked!

You'll recall the Tiger Woods' press conference on SNL (Kenan Thompson w/Blake Lively). Normally, you can access the SNL stuff on www.hulu.com, but it's unavailable right now.Very Duke Blue wrote:Golf clubs. Some people think a "special" club will make them better golfers. I slammed my racquetball racket. I think the most satisfying thing about slamming things and taking out aggression in a racquetball court has to be the acoustics. 'Fuck' never sounded so good.

Slamming a shot put or javelin might get dangerous. or you might just look like you were trying again.

Re: Slamming Athletic Equipment...
Once I was having an awful day on the hoop court and committed yet another in a long line of horrible blunders. I roared in anguish, turned toward the other end of the gym, and punted the ball toward the roof like I was Ray Guy. Thank goodness it was only pickup and not a game with refs or anyone else in the gym.
If you consider fishing a sport, this might be pretty funny: What if you get out in the middle of the lake and find that you left the beer cooler on the porch back home? What if you hooked a big'un, but it got away and you were so mad that you slammed your rod over your knee, threw it in the bottom of the boat, then stomped on it, in the process capsizing the boat?

How about a kite? Can you even slam a kite? Is it aeronautically possible?

I have seen kites kick some serious ass in California. As much as a kite can kick ass.
