As Easy Ed Turns

Post by wilson » February 12th, 2010, 2:44 pm

At this point, his story is worthy of its own thread, no?
First, let me say that I don't like hearing that he's hurt, despite the fact that he's a heel (he's a Heel, too ;) ). I hope he bounces back whenever, blah blah blah.
Now, on to other questions: Will this result in anything different for carolina? Missing their most talented player, will they get even worse and really bottom out? Conversely, could the stories that Easy Ed is unhappy and "checked out" of the Dump on the Hump be true, and could the rest of the team hit a stride without him?
Lastly, what does this all mean for Davis' NBA prospects? Does this hurt his lottery-pick potential? Have the heels' risible results this season already done that job? Will it all come crashing down as Easy Ed's liaisons with Victoria are revealed?

I hope he recovers just in time to lead them to a 2OT W in the 3rd place game of the NIT.

If they make it...

So there are two key points to discuss here; 1) Will Carolina bottom out and 2) Davis' NBA prospects.

As for the former, as a vetern hoops watcher, I honestly beleive UNC is toast. It's over. It's done. This is not the NBA or life in general where "seasoned" adults know that adversity is a regular part of life. These are kids. And, in an odd way, my heart goes a little out to them. A little. I may have just lied. For most of these kids, this is the first "wall of adversity" they have seen. It takes great maturity to overcome that. And while they may, my money is on them tanking.

Point Two: Ed Davis as a Lottery Pick. He has much time to turn around his standing there; and I hope he does. Again, I'm a hater of Carolina but I pull for individuals. I hope he ends up being a top prospect but that UNC as a whole contines to suck left and right buttock.

That is all. I want some salmon.

Right, and my question (among others) is, has he played his last game in that ugly ass blue?

Some have speculated that since he didn't go last year, and now that the reality of a season ending injury is upon him (college injury), he will most likely go because he'll want to take the money while it's an option. If he comes back, gets hurt again, for good, then the NBA is gone forever.

I think he has. The stories around him 'checking out' seem pretty solid and easy enough to prove:
1. pre-game coming out of the tunnel. The team huddles together - except Ed, standing about 5 feet away from everyone else
2. 2nd half time out. team is around the coaches. Except ed, standing there staring into the diminishing crowd

I could be wrong. He could go all ty lawson on us and have to come back. But I think he's been gone since the end of the first three game slide they had.

I thought this thread was about a different Easy Ed:

Poached from over yonder...
There's at least one (very possibly spurious) claim out there that Easy Ed has linked up with an agent and is thus ineligible to play any more college ball.

The agent is claiming they were hacked. Which on one hand I could see, but on the other hand think is unlikely
Porter said he believes someone hacked his site, ptasportsmanagement.com, and added information that looked as if it had been cut-and-pasted from the UNC's media guide -- such as where Davis played in high school, his high school statistics and his family information. Davis' picture had not been added to the site, and the information looked different from what was listed for other clients.

All of Davis' information had been taken off the site by 10:10 a.m.

"We have no commitment, nothing verbally or written from Ed Davis,'' Porter said.

I got to thinking several days ago about this wrist thing and wondering (given the speculation that in his own mind he'd already left the team anyway) whether or not the wrist really was all that broken. ;;) Maybe just a convenient way to call it a day with the Heels? Anybody know whether or not he's even been going to classes? Has there been any info put out there as to where and when or even how the wrist injury came about? Supposedly it was during our game, but when? He wasn't involved in the Lance Thomas train wreck. That's the only crash that was obvious to me.

Supposedly it came with about 9 minutes to play in the 2nd half when he tried to go over Singler. Singler held his ground (though on IC they claim he undercut, but that's only if they mean he was there long before Ed went up...) and they both went to the floor. Blocking foul was called, and Ed airballed the first free throw.

As far as going to class, I have no real information but the rumor on the internet is he stopped going to class right after they determined he was done for the season. But again, I have nothing but rumor and speculation to back that up so definitely take it with a grain of salt.
