I thought the wind was still pretty strong last night, especially coming out of chappaheeya...
Or was that just a giant sucking sound...

One word: Subaru!
HA! I had a kick ass 4 wheel drive toyota truck with a lift kit on it and huge tires (bought it off my redneck neighbors), and it stayed at the bottom. Some days, not even a tank could make it up that road.

They are calling for 65% chance of snow at the beach late tomorrow night. Only an inch..but it would be cool to join in the snow party.

Well the 6:00 weather on WRAL is showing a snow storm, now in Texas (and areas got 9" of snow) moving across Mississippi, Alabama, the Florida panhandle, all of Georgia, eventually all of South Carolina and the southeastern corner (Wilmington area, forecast for 1 to 3" on grassy surfaces) getting snow tomorrow and tomorrow night. The latest model takes it farther north than the last model. If that trend continues then the Triangle area could get a dusting. How many inches of dust do I get to shovel on Saturday morning before heading to Derm for the game? Hmmm? I'm flying to Ft. Lauderdale on Sunday for a week; I'm hoping for warm sunshine for a change.

This storm is causing problems for Mardi Gras. Three parades scheduled for tomorrow have been canceled. Two are rescheduled to the weekend on either Saturday or Sunday and one canceled altogether. Tomorrow the Big Easy may have sleet or snow mixed with rain. What a year!

Milk and bread have long since sold out of the Greater Atlanta Publix and Kroger stores.

Alternative thought: Get a COW and some wheat! You can milk the cow and get cream, cheese and milk (o'natural) and grind up the wheat to make your own flour for bread setup, ... no one is buying yeast off the shelves. Hey, if it proves to last for a long time, stock up on milk by storing in the snow and then take out the cow, pull out the knife and fire up the grill! ;) aka survivor-JAM!

It's snowing steadily here now. Maybe the weatherman wasn't bullshitting after all. As long as the power doesn't go out, that would be completely fine with me.
Also, I love this thread. I kind of envision it becoming a perennial first-pager, like LTE and "Milestones". Here's hoping, at least.

I'm thinking of grilling out tonight. We are at a balmy 29 degrees, and it's sunny.

Amen Wilson. Steady snow here in Marietta (NW Atlanta for those out of town), and I'm happier than a pig in slop!

It's snowing for serious here now. I just finished up the day's work, and I've now got a lasagna in the works. I guess I'll start drinking the rest of that red wine that I opened to saute the sausage and mushrooms.

I just popped the cork on bottle of cheap but good-tasting Yellow Tail Cabernet Sauvigon, so here is a snow toast to you friend!

I'm sipping Red Diamond Cabernet. Red Diamond is an outfit in Washington state that I discovered when someone gave me a bottle of their Cab. I have since sampled others of their wines and found all to be very good, especially at their $8-10 price point.
