I expect that number to reach somewhere from 10 - 14 by the end of the day.
It's a sad day.

Is Feb 1 normal or early notification? Seems awfully early to be normal, but seems too late for early notification.

Morning, all! I have to be at church at 9:15 - the handbell choir is playing today. Could be a train wreck.
Filled out my taxes yesterday and found out that I'm getting a HUGE refund. (And, yes, I'll fix my withholding so that doesn't happen again!) Now comes the big decision: what to do with the big refund? New home theatre system with high-def tv, surround sound, and blu-ray player? Macro lens for my camera? A big vacation (something I've never done before)? Put the money in savings? Decisions, decisions...
I'd certainly budget $100 or $200 monthly toward paying your mortgage off earlier.
A fine suggestion, DD, and I've been thinking along those lines - as well as putting more into retirement.
We have done that since owning our 2nd home. We had very few $ left over at the end of the month during our early married years and we knew the 1st home was gonna be for 3-5 years anyway so we put no extra $ into that one. If you look at the interest $ saved by paying off a 30 year loan in about 20 years, the amounts are amazing.
I always look at putting a few extra $ into my 401K/profit sharing plan, too, and not taking it as salary. The thinking is that I don't pay taxes now and will be in a lower tax bracket when I retire and the money grows tax-deferred.
We did splurge on a nice vacation in July, 2008 to celebrate our 30th anniversary. It was an echo conference on a cruise. The corporation paid for it with pre-tax $, too

. Mrs. DD didn't mind a bit 'cuz when I was attending my lectures, she had her quiet time

.

And perhaps a small portion to join a Brunchgate next fall!
She'll need to spend more than that just to get here!

When my daughter was debating which school to choose (not that there was ever really much of a choice

), the event that solidified her decision was one Sunday in April at church when all her friends (soon to be ex-friends

) announced during Senior HS Sunday that they were going to kerlina, she happened to be the last to speak and made sure she announced in a loud and proud voice that she would be attending DUKE UNIVERSITY. Couldn't have made a MOM and POP prouder

They have "rolling" admissions at DuncE, IIRC, so there is early decision, then some folks are notified in mid-January and then prolly the regular notification group around 4/1.

I got smacked around twice yesterday. Well, figuratively, not literally.

Yeah, this is the early notification.
I just checked my application status for UNC. Besides the fact that I withdrew it, apparently I never sent in an explanation for my possession ticket! Hahahaha.

In our youth, often we know not what we do. Years from now, you'll feel sympathy towards the poor decisions of theirs.

Two versions...Bryan Adams or David Gray. Neither seems appropriate in this situation.
