Least Favorite Voice of College Basketball

Announcer, analyst, or color man, it makes no difference. Which announcer/analyst/color man do you least like?

It's not that I dislike any of the individuals tremendously, but at some point or another in the last year, I could swear that each of these individuals has received the comment (on chat, on the board, or in informal discussions) that "I turn the volume off" or "I switch the channel." But really, who gets the title of LEAST favorite, and why?

Yesterday, I turned the volume off with Verne. Ever since his call of THE GAME, I just have never liked him. Len Elmore irritates me, except when he talks about when he played basketball at Maryland. Digger is too easy to predict what he'll say, and he RARELY at halftime predicts Duke will win. Dickie V is a really nice guy, but I just can't get into his diversions off topic, as well as his VOLUME. Patrick has history, but is having more and more difficulty. And Lavin? I just haven't ever truly appreciated him. Packer... well, now that he has retired, how does he fit on the list?

And don't worry... there will be a poll for FAVORITE as the season moves on (and yes, Jimmy Spanarkel will be on it).

For me, it's Verne. I like his work on HAPPY GILMORE, but aside from that, I dread everytime I see that he's announcing. I have no simple explanation. I don't think he's slipped in performance over the years, but maybe it started for me almost 20 years ago when he made a comment after Laettner tapped Timberlake. I think that comment helped fuel the Duke Hatred Tsunami.

Dang, Lavabe, you do know how to list the annoying ones! I can't even pick at the moment. My first thought was Dick Vitale just because of the number of times I yell, "Shut up Dick!" at the TV when he's announcing. You bring up lots of good points on the others, though. I'll have to think about this one and come back to it.

Lundquist was a tempting vote, but Dick has been annoying me l-o-n-g-e-r, bless his heart.

It's near a tie between Dick and Digger.
Dick Vitale seems like a nice guy, though he is extremely annoying. I find Digger Phelps to be just as annoying, but he also comes across as a giant asshole.
Tie breaker goes to Digger. Douchebag.

Obama did a better job yesterday than either of the paid announcers...

Still waiting on the Len Elmore folks.

IIRC, EJam will probably select Doug Gottlieb. :D :D

He is about 15th on the list of most seen ESPN men's college basketball personalities. Please note that Andy Katz, Seth Davis, and Hubert Davis also do not appear on the list.

I had to pick Packer. I have wanted to punch him since the 1970s. He makes me so damned mad. They should have pushed the jerk face out decades ago.
