Art From the Heart Opening

The Carteret County Arts Council puts on a really nice show every year called Art From the Heart. I will have 3 pieces in it, and any and all of y'all are welcome to attend. The opening is Friday, Feb 12th. Admission is free and open to the public. Even though Carteret sponsors it, artists from 4 counties in eastern NC are invited, and all mediums are welcome. On top of it, they have a side gallery with local schools' student work..some of it is really amazing.

If any of y'all might make it to the opening, please let me know. Last year some CTNers had a nice after show dinner together.

Wooooohoooooo!!!
Two out of three of my paintings won awards, and the third would have won, but it is against the rules. (You can only win an Award of Excellence and an Honorable Mention.) The judge wanted to award the football painting an AE as well as the girl's portrait, unfortunately it was the odd painting out. My tomato painting got the honorable mention.
Opening is this Friday, the show runs through the 28th.

Thanks much to everyone. I do like how each of my paintings is dated a different year..2008, 2009, 2010. (And yet strangely they are all painted within the last 2 years.)

As I watch your work evolve, Chris, I am amazed and thrilled by you create. You capture the essence of your subjects in a way that gives life to each painting.

I had to go to show again tonight for another event, (hosted by the chamber of commerce), and picked up two commissions. Wooohoooo! Someone asked if I did unc players, I told them only if they were playing Duke, and it wouldn't be flattering to the baby blue. :))
