Next week's forecast

Post by OZZIE4DUKE » December 25th, 2009, 4:07 pm

Snow! We heard thunder twice a few minutes ago. So 10 days from now ...

On another bright note, OzzieDaughter did get home this afternoon and is now heading out, down the mountain, and should be here in 4 to 5 hours!

Did anyone count how many foggy mornings there were in August?

We had thunder and lightning here in Greenville tonight. That can only mean snow!

Wait a minute! What am I doing in 10 days? Is this going to be a problem?

Whew! I will be finished with airport runs, and we'll be at home, back in the school and work routine. I guess we'll have a snow day.

The pattern for winter weather seems to be notable weather events on the weekends this season. Conflicting forecasts continue to be posted from various sources for the end of next week or into the weekend.

At this point in time, the quality of weather for New Year's Eve and New Years Day is unclear.

The snow may be disappearing from the yard, but there's more in the future.

It's time to revisit this topic.

Depending on where you are in North Carolina, December 30 and 31 will bring some cold rain, perhaps heavy at times. This week we're in a transition bringing colder temperatures as the Gulf stream makes a loop north into the cold air of the northwest US and Canada and then dips south again. Very cold temperatures, especially at night, are on their way.

There is the possibility of frozen precipitation sometime during the range of dates included in January 9-12. The farther west one is in the state the more likely the precipitation will be snow. The central part of the state (RDU area) is a transitional area where the precipitation may fall in a variety of forms ranging from snow to sleet and freezing rain. It's still too early to be certain about the forecast, but this is one to watch.

I just heard thunder this morning. While only EJ got snow in the last 10 forecast, most of us were supposed to. So far the Old Wives are beating the Mythbusters, 1-0.

We had heavy rain, but no thunder. Guess the snow will be limited to the beach! :D

Just as I was leaving for Durham about 5, the thunder boomers rang out loud and clear. Guess we'll get the snow too on/by the 27th, which is our next home game... :-o
