It snowed here a couple inches last night. Didn't stick to the roadways. It's barely cold enough for snow really hovering around 33-34F.

Re: Let it SNOW!?
Looks like they are calling for rain most of today for you folks in the triangle, for us beach folks that's all it has been and will be. However, my stepsons are driving to Asheville tomorrow on their first long solo drive, and they are calling for Asheville to have over a foot by the end of today, with more predicted later in the week. I'm not thrilled about the prospect of their trip. They will have 4 wheel drive, but have no snow driving experience.YmoBeThere wrote:It snowed here a couple inches last night. Safe travels to your stepsons if they go. Either they'll have a ton of experience soon, or, they will decide that discretion is the better part of valor and they won't go. I'm sure the highway patrol is asking/warning people to stay off the roads in the western half of the State. I would strongly advise that they don't go, too.CameronBornAndBred wrote:Looks like they are calling for rain most of today for you folks in the triangle, for us beach folks that's all it has been and will be. One inch so far here in Mt. Laurel NJ, outside Philly. At least 10 more coming and maybe 20.
Katie enjoyed watching it when she got up. The dogs loved running around in it. I can't wait to get out there.

Re: Let it SNOW!?
In the WS area we got plenty of snow yesterday. More fell on the western side of the region than elsewhere. Looks like 6-8" before the drifts from high winds. A light freezing drizzle is predicted for today by some while other meteorologists say we'll see light snow falling beginning around noon. I'd rather have the light snow since it's not apt to cause any power outages.
The highs may approach 40 with lots of clouds then dip again tonight into the twenties...... same pattern of temperatures throughout the week with the possibility of some more frozen precipitation around Christmas Eve.
Who was that who asked for the snow? Is this enough?

Near Accident - Props to Cowboy Devil
Last night, Cowboy Devil and I, EarlJam, were traveling west on I-40 as the snow started coming down pretty hard.
There was quite a bit of traffic on the highway, going at about 25-30 MPH. With traffic all around us, including a transfer truck a bit behind us, our Durango started to fishtail. Cowboy Devil, who was driving, said, "Here we go," and time seemed to stand still.
We went sideways as headlights from other cars were going by us, miraculously missing us. When all traffic had cleared, suddenly we found ourselves in a slide headed directly for the guardrail at a pretty high rate of speed. I braced for the crunch.
While all of this was happening, I was watching with keen detail Cowboy Devil operate the steering wheel and pedals. As I wrote, time seemed to stand still. I must say, to his credit, Cowboy Devil knew exactly how to handle the situation and showed tremendous skill in keeping the car from crashing. In short, Cowboy Devil is a snow driving bad ass and I propose that his new name be "SNOWDRIVER!"
The combination of divine intervention, luck (whatever you wish to call it) and Cowboy' Devil's kick-arse driving skills prevented an almost certain, and potentially very serious, wreck from happening.
Just wanted to share and give much deserved props, kudos, vibes, etc. to Cowboy Devil on this board.
Now................GO DUKE!

Glad to hear this turned out OK.
