I'd Like to Buy the World a Coke...

Post by EarlJam » December 17th, 2009, 12:05 pm

...but unfortunately, at about $1.25 a bottle, it would cost around $8,335,000,000.

I just don't have that kind of cash.

So much for world peace.

You couldn't even afford it if you chopped off your pinkie toe.

Technically, "Buy the World A coke" would involve only the aforementioned $1.25 or so, right? :D
you've inspired me. For world peace, I am gonna go out and buy the world A coke in a few minutes.
Or perhaps a Pepsi for a moderate reduction on strife and violence in the world?
I could get the world a Dr. Pepper for Sundays and rotating Tuesdays without violence resulting in deaths.... and maybe limited corruption.
Or generic brand soft drink for the world, cover my head and hope for the best :))

The thread title vaguely reminds me of middle school graduation practice xx years ago, in which we all sang the stupid song. We were so annoyed with singing this song that in practice we emphasized the wrong syllables in the verse:
"... and furnish it with love."

The choral director decided not to include the song in the ceremony.

Wise move.

Okay. This morning our choir sang, "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen." There is a verse in the song:

In Bethlehem, in Israel, this blessed Babe was born,
And laid within a manger upon this blessed morn;
That which His mother Mary did nothing take in scorn.
O tidings of comfort and joy, comfort and joy,
O tidings of comfort and joy.

At rehearsal, our choir director had to remind us to over-pronounce the first H in "which" because it sounded like we were singing "That witch his mother. . ."
“The invention of basketball was not an accident. It was developed to meet a need. Those boys simply would not play 'Drop the Handkerchief.'”

This is a Post Classic! LOL!!! Seems a "MELLO Yellow" sith an "AQUAfina" would serve well at perhaps easing national tensions Wednesdays through Sundays in international waters in the northern hemisphere?

This reminds me of a line in Handel's Messiah, "We, like sheep". Only I hear it as "we like sheep". I think they're okay, not sure I want one, but hey, different strokes for different folks.

That depends on just how different the strokes are. Some folks like sheep too much.

Another pronunciation issue song. We weren't pronouncing the P in sheep, so it sounded like "All we like she." When the choir director pointed that out to us we began spitting out the P" "All we like sheeP."

(For those of you unfamiliar with that chorus, the next line is "have gone astray-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay."

I always thought we should sing sheep sounds instead: "bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah bah."
